As the thread title says, I've checked in on this forum off and on for sometime now...figured it was time to punt my anti-social behavior and say hello! I've got a 2010 200 series with just shy of 145k on the ticker, drove every mile. Outside of installing suitable tires and throwing a Yakima rack with kayak and mountain bike mounts and a basket for additional cargo on it's remained pretty much stock. Was the same way with my 100 series before it, and the 4 Runner before that. All three trucks managed to do what I wanted to do, which is the reason I bought them...until now >.<
I've been wanting to modify my truck for some time as I've got some extended adventures on the list (the Baja trip a few of you are taking soon is RIGHT in the wheelhouse) , and I've absorbed some great information / insight from this forum. Fantastic place. I've got suspension, sliders, and a full roof rack on the short list......you all know where it leads from there! But FIRST, a priority...
A few weeks ago my blower fan for heating / cooling started making noise on start up and shut down. Long story short, it's gotten to the point I can't run my front climate system as the fan rubs so badly against the housing that the noise is unbearable. Took out the cabin filter and reached down in there to check out what was up...there's so much slop in the fan that I'm fairly certain the bearings are shot. So...does anyone happen to know the part number for the replacement blower motor? Not the entire assembly , just the motor and fan, and a good supplier to order from. Don't want to go to my local dealer on this one, they kind of got to me on my radiator replacement (subject for another post)
Thanks in advance for any help you can throw my way, and thanks for all of the great tips and ideas I've already gleaned from prowling around the forum.

Just replaced mine not long ago too. Got it online at oempartsource.com but it took some time. Easy uninstall and reinstall

Thanks @ForrestGrump ! I think I saw your thread on this, but can’t remember if you replaced just the fan or the entire housing.

I see from the label on the package that it’s the motor sub assembly. Do you mind if how ask how much it see you back? And yes, it looks to be a relatively simple repair. I was digging around under the dash this afternoon, and if I’d had another half inch of clearance I would have had the motor out without removing the glove box....but no such luck.

Same issue, noise and all. I ordered one. Thanks for the lead @ForrestGrump

No problem guys! It's a pretty straightforward install. Remove the kickplate/panel under the glovebox, remove the sonar controller, and then 3 screws IIRC. The thing then wiggles out with some twists and knocks but shouldn't need any force to pull it out or to put it back in for that matter. Just awkward positioning of the body to get a good look and working room in there.

Funny you say that, because I thought the exact same thing. I had screws out , unplugged and just "hanging out" in the cavity. I took some time away and came back to it and just bumped it as I was trying to position myself under the dash and it literally fell out. It's a bit frustrating but turn it just so and it'll come out (same thing with going back in).

Love it when things end up easier than they should be

Looks like I'm going to be installing a new blower fan this weekend myself! Been dealing with buzzing, squealing noises and vibrations from under the dash all winter - especially when it's really cold out. Hopefully this is the fix I need.

If you remove your cabin air filter, you can reach down into the fan housing and see it there is any play in the fan spindle. If there is, then I’d say it’s a pretty good chance that the fan is the source for your noise. Mine was very sloppy, made all kinds of racket. It’s an easy fix though:cheers:

My replacement blower came in on Friday afternoon and I was able to get it installed. Took me almost an hour to get the old one out but after re-reading this thread several times I managed to get it out. Thanks for your tips on this install ForrestGrump! I ended up having to remove 3 bolts to get the radar unit out, then another 3 for the blower assembly.

Once this thing is off you can see the blower and the three screws that need to come out of it to remove:

Here's a close up with the lip of the dash that makes it kind of a pain to remove the blower. The connector is right above it and it's tight in there...

Here's a shot of the rusty old spindle. This thing wouldn't spin around easily at all. i can see why it was so noisy and vibrating so much.

And finally a shot of the new unit - this one had a metal clip on one blade (I'm assuming this is for balancing) and then the blade directly across from that one had a small piece of black tape which is probably also to balance the fan I'm guessing.

The new unit is super quiet, all my vibrations are gone and it blows strong. This is easily the best 150 bucks I have spent on this truck to date!
