just checked thru the threads and looks like the 64' did replace with the chrome ring ones... he said they had loose fitting plastic things in there... he was thinking these (chrome trim ones) were correct... however ... the plastic amber ones i believe are what was added at port :)

BTW 65' (aussie only) had a two light setup amber and red only.... like this...

Truck is looking great. My '71 has the above two light set up.
Did you sort the front brakes? I have the front drums left over from mine, as i converted to disc front.
Love my 71, it seems to be a lot heavier steel than the newer trucks.
Is your dash original? As i would like to compare mine with it?

Matt

Thanks Matt as I said earlier not really sure what year mine is to be honest with all the other bits and pieces in. Just ordered the new motor and hopefully it should arrive by the end of the week.

Not sure mate mine are the original large round red ones.

Thanks for the info Johnny and after reading the thread it makes me believe even more that mine is not an original Aussie import and came in from another country that has RHD vehicles but only the large rear tail light. I will pull it apart again soon and have another look inside to see if there is 1 or 2 bulbs inside

hi there

I have sold a few RHD OZ cruises, this on is 1969 and the lights are original, my OZ contact can get them and the others in the photo if it helps.

Well the new engine has arrived this morning. Just got to get it fitted and bolted up now. I have had a look on SOR.COM and their records do not go back this far with the engine number check. I am assuming based on the engine number and the block stamp that this is possibly a 1964 model. Would I be correct.

Johnny thanks for that mate. I thought that it would be a mid 60's motor.

Well more dramas. Pulled the old engine right down today to fit the harmonic balancer to the new motor and guess what. It dont fit and cant work out how to fit it. The old harmonic balancer was held on by a big nut which also doubled as where you put the crank handle in. The new engine does not have anywhere to bolt the harmonic balancer too.

Hi Ken
I don't quite know what to say there.
These old girls bring out the best and the worst in us.
See what other Mudders say and remember at the end of the day " it's only money" and money is a renewable resource .
Come Monday we go back to work and earn some more.
Hot day here in Brisbane and its Beer O Clock time.
Cheers

Cheers Bambi. Yeah I know these things are set to try us out and all that is left to do is to down tools, have a beer and think about it a bit more. I have spoken with my mate who is a diesel mechanic and sent him through the pics and even he cant work it out. I have spoken with the guy I got the motor from and again it doesnt seem to make much sense to him either. They are both going to look further into it tomorrow for me. I see that you are boiling down there in Bris Vegas sorry to hear. Its a beautiful 27 degrees here with a nice sea breeze.

will be in Cooktown a couple of days after Christmas, will drop in for a coldie, coming up the coast road so the Lions Den will be an overnighter, probably be around the area for a week or so,cruising in the shorty, will do the creb track on the way back

g'day ken unfortunately I think the f135 has a press fit pully no thread and your one wont work. don't no what the situation is on finding one in good nick for that old motor

Aussie FJ40 look forward to having a coldie when you come up.

Catskinner, I actually never even thought that it was a f135 motor. I suppose that I just saw that it was an F motor. I might have to look around and see what I can find for a 135.

Ken, It looks like the threaded portion of the shaft has sheared off, or somebody cut it off to remove the pulley, this is not normal, and there's no such thing as a push-on harmonic balancer as others have suggested. You are probably looking at a new intact crank shaft.
