A warning to fellow @sleeoffroad rear bumper owners for the 200. Don't make the same mistake I did. Sometimes I cause my own problems.

Slee makes an awesome product but regular inspection of your bumper components is worthwhile. I didn't realize my rubber bumper for my spare tire swing out has deteriorated over time. Surprisingly, the arm has bent where it makes contact when opened. So if you see any wear in your rubber bumpers, get a replacement on there asap. I ordered some from Slee, will have to touch up my bumper finish now. Unfortunately I don't think I can fix the bend in the steel without disassembling the arm. FWIW POR15 Chassis black seems like a pretty good match the bumper finish on this and my arb front bumper.

Wow. Mine is about 4 years old and not nearly as worn down as yours.

Did you hear a metal on metal impact for some period of time when you opened the swing?

While mine isn’t quite as worn as yours, I very much appreciate your warning as I had never considered inspecting or replacing mine.
I do think mine is about due to be replaced or will be soon so I will go ahead and do it now.

And is there any trick to replacing that bumper?
Perhaps @sleeoffroad if you have any input on how to swap the rubber bumper out?

I assumed it was glued on or something but the part seems to come with a screw and washer.

If you read a bit earlier in the thread this is maybe my own doing. My 200 has seen some trail time and I know there have been off camber situations where the spare tire swing arm has slipped out of my hand and hit that bumper with force. Apparently that is not good for the longevity of the rubber. I wouldn’t say that has happened a lot, but definitely something I will try to avoid as much as possible. I didn’t hear metal on metal contact, just noticed the issue one day. I changed it without having to dismantle anything. I used a pair of narrow channel locks and a piece of rubber sheet to protect the surrounding parts. Was a couple minute replacement job. I touched up the bumper and it all looks fine. Embarrassing I cause the issue myself, but it won’t be the last time I cause my own issues.😂

Who hasn’t had the swing-out with the tire get away from them when off-camber?
Though, I guess, given the wear on your bumper, likely yours has gotten away more than mine.
Or maybe your spare is giant? I bet that extra weight could make a difference.

But was the link I sent the correct part for you?
I’m a little confused as to why you needed to protect the surrounding parts with a rubber sheet. Protect them from what? Is the rubber bumper/stopper not simply glued on?

See below for what my rubber stopper looks like after about 4 years. It’s not quite done yet, but looks like I’m due to replace it now.

Yeah that looks about like mine does/did. I have a 34” spare, so not massive but it is a heavy arm. The bumper is so solidly built I hadn’t considered that slight damage being an issue so I am sure I was careless at times.

That rubber bumper has a threaded insert inside it. So I used some channel locks and a thin piece of rubber sheet I had to protect the swing arm end surface and the surface where the rubber bumper mounts from scratching as I removed it. My bolt stayed put and I just twisted the new rubber bumper on it.
