I think I'm gonna try to get some wrenching done on Saturday the 9th if anyone wants to come up to the north side and get dirty. Plans include, but aren't limited to: 1) swap around 3 sets of tires - truck #1 35's off, 33's on. Truck #2 37's off, 35's on. 2) swap tcase skidplates between same two trucks. 3) remove front d-shaft for repair. 4) remove some of the exhaust that's broken and attempt repair.

I'm about 10 miles north of 385 on 14.

I might be able to sneak away for a half day or so that weekend, still don't have my final schedule from the social director. Keep us posted as time gets closer and I'll let you know how it's looking. Tires shouldn't take long if more than one person is working on it, skidplates should be quick too if rust isn't an issue (jinx, anyone?).

Just checking to see if anyone was planning on coming up Saturday in case I needed to pick up anything. I don't keep much stock on food and beverage so lemme know whacha want if you're coming.

I am working all weekend so I wont be able to attend. I bet your fridge has beer, butter, one expired ranch dressing jar, some deli ham, and some mold in the corners. Oh I remember the days.

I wish I could make it but dealing with a water issue at my townhouse. I will be busy with it for awhile.

Well you're close other than the mold - my fridge is new. hehe. Have fun working! :wrench:

Thanks Bomar. It's the thought that counts anyway, right? That is, unless I end up dropping a transmission on myself, then the "thoughts" didn't help much! :p. Good luck with your wrenching session.

No problem. I knew I'd have a hard time gettin folks to come out this way even if they were free. I'll piddle around with whatever I can manage and see if there's some other weekend that might work out to get people over for the heavier stuff.

What's you're address, Steve? Or a general landmark? Trying to see what that trip would be like.

Tanner Rd @ Beaver Creek Rd 38011. I'd bet around 45 minutes for you. Wait, you moved further away now; may be more like an hour. Lemme know. I'm still gonna be in the garage all day so anyone is welcome any time, I just might sleep in a bit if no one is coming early.

Yeah I'm a good ways out into the farmlands. I love it out here.

As for the tug, it'd be A LOT of moola for fuel. Its about a 1300 mile round trip - at 10mpg if I'm lucky - 130 gallons of diesel - +/-$3.80/gal - ~$500. I thought I MIGHT find a shipper to do it for that amount. Although I'm only 1/3 of the way to the purchase price so far and that's including the stuff that needs to go to LR.

Okay, I need input. Y'all might recall I changed wheels and the pull went away, right? Well, not so much. Pulls to the right still, only not every time. Weird.

Took to the shop, they first thought brake line messed up, then thought brake pads or calipers. Changed it all out and got it back this am, pulling again on the way home tonight. Won't pull for 3-4 stops, then it'll do it.

This never was an issue before I lifted it. What could I have damaged to cause it? Brake line pinch? Any thoughts?

Could be tie rod ends. Mine pulls to the left. It stopped briefly when I sleeved my relay link. I had a seized left front brake caliper but changing it didn't do anything.

If it is, what can be done to fix it? Did you get yours worked out?

Check the cross pins on all the calipers. If they're not well lubed, they could cause the pads to not retract properly and that could emulate a sticking caliper. On the other hand, it could actually be a sticking caliper which could mean a bad caliper or simply the need for a really good brake bleeding; like with a machine or a reverse direction bleeder. I've had this occur even on brand new calipers so it's still a slight possibility.

One way to check if it's brake related would be to see if any of your rotors are hotter than the others after driving a while. If any are, start at that corner with troubleshooting.

Good points. The shop I took it to told me that the sliders (?) were frozen up on the RF, that they got it working. They also replaced rotors and pads while troubleshooting, told me to drive it a few days to see if that fixed it and before I paid for anything. Like I said, it started pulling again on the way home from the shop. As Steve said, if it's a caliper issue, could be the source.

At first they were convinced it was a brake hose issue, maybe the opposite side. He ordered the outside hoses, but was having trouble getting the inside hoses for the front. I have no idea what that is or does, and I frankly wonder if I screwed something up on my install, as it never happened prior to....

If the caliper pins were frozen up on the RF, that'd certainly make it pull to the right. If they got worn a bit while they were dry, they may still cause an issue even though they're now lubed. I'd recommend replacing those calipers if you haven't already and if they're not terribly expensive. If its not that, it almost has to be contamination in the lines somewhere causing flow issues. Or you may have a proportioning valve or a "t" junction that needs replacement.

Edit - There's a brake bleeder tool that used to be the "end-all-be-all" for issues like this where nobody could figure it out. It was called the Phoenix Injector. It was a gun-style tool that reverse bled the system from the bleeder screw back up to the master. If there were contaminant or blockage issues anywhere in the lines, this tool usually fixed it. Many mechanics used to rave about it's miraculous fixing abilities.

Don't overlook the back brakes, too. My rear drums don't self-adjust, and when they get out of whack, it'll start pulling....
