Let’s say you had the chance to buy a nice late model GX. Good mileage, rust free, decent color combination. But the head unit doesn’t work. Which means there’s a number of things you couldn’t check on a pre-buy inspection (I’m assuming you couldn’t check HVAC with the head unit non-functional).

I’m guessing that’s an expensive fix if you needed a replacement unit—which is what the seller advised Lexus told him, and quoted him just north of $5K. He’s asking a reasonable price (for crazy 2022) because of the issue.

Worth taking a risk on?

Aliexpress. Get the updated non OEM with carplay and Android auto. They even have one that make it look like 22 model. It's about $1000 but worth a gamble

Check fuses, then for flood damage that might fry elecronics. That is odd.

It's a 2022 or he traded up for a 2022?
If it is a 2022, why isn't warranty covering this?

Sorry—2019, not a 2022.

I’m running the VIN to check for flood history.

Carfax and insurance companies are often 12 months behind on reporting. They do their best but it's not a perfect system. Look at it in person, pull up the carpet and look for evidence of moisture.

I wouldn’t unless I somehow had a replacement unit I could plug in to check everything out.

Really depends upon the price and if you want to either upgrade or replace with OEM.
Kind of a personal call. Do some research and see how much of a headache it is to replace of if there's a better one (with Android/Apple play??? :D) available that'll bolt in.

Could be as simple as a blown fuse and a completely inept seller too.
