what do you want to know?

Awesome, thank you. That does answer my biggest question (below)...along with a few others. :) Now that you've run it for a while, is the OEM pump still solid (given the 75-80% rated force) or is a 2nd/improved pump required?

"FYI, I got an e-mail back from Milemarker tech support in response to some questions on their hydraulic winch in a 94 landcruiser.
They stated that it is supported, but that the actual pulling force will only be 75-80% of the rated force of each winch because the Landcruiser power steering pressure is only 1200PSI instead of the typical 1500PSI."

That was back in 2005 and I sold that truck to a friend and he’s still using it. It helps to elevate the idle during winching and I put in a hand throttle. One of my thoughts was to investigate the IAC circuit and see if it was a simple trigger used to increase the idle during AC use. The idea was if that was the case I might be able to tap into it to automatically raise the idle that way when the winch was turned on.

Spooling in was always in high speed and pulling in low. When switching from high to low you need to spool out a little for the transmission to change. tension on the winch will not let that happen.

And you need to change your PS fluid more frequently especially after a winch fest.

People often comment on how slow the winch is but I found the extra control it gave me a big plus. I have another one on my shelf if I can get my truck back together after other projects.

Thanks for the info. I do have a hand throttle already that makes life a lot easier (especially before I did the Photoman 150A upgrade) to keep the compressor/battery happy. The IAC only bumps it a bit, does it only need a couple 100 RPM increase to make the winch happy?

I don't winch much but I'd think slower=safer. I don't think I'd like high speed when dragging 6,000 lbs about. I do like not having to deal with all the battery/wiring (even though I'm already equipped).

I'm not sure I want to go Round 8 with my PS system but if @NLXTACY puts together a kit that keeps me out of the inner fan shroud/radiator PS corner from hell, maybe I'll do some upgrades when I get around to swapping my new Redhead box with a 105/Redhead rebuild on my OEM box sitting on the shelf.

Kit wise, it would be a great idea to have a larger/2nd reservoir, an inline filter option and quick drain/purge port to avoid having to pull any hoses to do a fluid swap. 🤔

TBH I found the hand trottle to be a finicky PITA and didn't use it much or at all after a while. Hence the auto idea.
