Just scheduled mine today. Tanks and rear belts! The tech at Toyota of San Bernardino said he would need about 3-5 days to gather the parts and then I will take it in for the work.

It says there are no outstanding recalls for my '90. Does that mean's it's been fixed already?

Yes. This is the same database that Toyota will reference if you call them. According to Toyota, your recalls were completed.

I just checked my '88 online and it shows it was completed. I also called to verify that the online is correct...it was, plus the service rep told me where and when it was completed.

I love the internet!

I just checked my Sequoia's VIN and I have 2 recalls that were no completed.

I just checked mine on Toyota's website and it says:

There are no open Special Service Campaigns or Recalls on your vehicle.

i know that cant be right. im fairly certain my tank was never replaced. looks like im gonna have to take it to the dealer.

How are you certain? I don't think that database would be wrong, especially with all the recall issues they're having right now.....

oh i dont doubt Toyota's records, but...

well, for one i have the service history and paper work on the Rig, but i dont see anything in there at all about the recall. also, the previous owner, (my family) has no recollection of the work being done. Lastly, when you crawl under the rig everything appears quite original, (though that is easily possible if the replacement stuff is all OEM and it has some miles / grime on it)
but the rig was taken to a toyota dealer its whole life for service, so it is totally possible that it has already been done.

I suppose it can't hurt to give the dealership a call, but I'd call with the VIN before bringing it in.

Thanks for posting that. I did mine and it says "There are no open Special Service Campaigns or Recalls on your vehicle"

Now does this mean that my fuel tank and seat belt recall has already been done? I sure hope so. I could believe it because when I got my LC it was in fantastic shape.
Maybe I should check my old carfax that I ran a few years back. I wonder if that would show a recall being done?

Sorry to wake this thread from the dead. But I figured I give an update to help those who are having trouble.

Talked to Toyota headquarters today and after checking all of my vin's I was transferred to another rep. And they found my vin on an "older system". They said that the dealer would bill them and that they would be happy to do the service because that would be more money for them.

The Toyota stealer near me said they could not find anything and that typical I would authorize the service, pay for it and Toyota would be reimbursing me and not them.

So I called Toyota corporate back and they created a case number and will be emailing my local Customer service managers by morning and they "have 3 days to contact" me. HOW KEWL IS THAT? I will be printing out the file on the recall showing all of the hoses and parts that need replacing just in case they don't want to change the hoses.

How random. I just went through the exact process with the dealer and Toyota Corp. the other day. The dealer was pretty useless, but toyota was great. They created the case, the dealer called 2 days later and tomorrow morning I have an appointment for them to inspect and verify all the parts. I am also having the rear seat belts done as well since they too were recalled. I expect to have to hand hold the dealer. In their defense, they don't see too many fj60s or 26 year old vehicles. Once they verify it, they said they will order the parts and call when they are in to schedule an appointment. Just as an FYI, the dealers system does not track old vin numbers, they kept telling me my vin did not exist, but toyota found it in a second system. Thanks to Mud or I would have never known.

Gas Tank Replaced

Update: Took a couple trys for the dealership to get all the right parts from Toyota, but in the end both recalls were fixed. New gas tank and fixed rear seat belts. They even gave me a rental for the 4 days they had the truck. What made me laugh is that normally when you leave a car with the dealership they give you a list of recommended fixes, services, repairs, etc. Nothing on my cruiser. I'm sure they were afraid to start checking it all out.

Could you please post up what the contact info is for Toyota America that you used? I had a similar issue going to a local dealership to get the VIN service history locally and they couldn't find anything to the point of insisting I had the wrong VIN, and would love to see if there is any outstanding recalls on my rig, plus any previous work that was done and recorded.

I just checked mine. It says no open recalls but my rear seat belts defiantly don't retract very well and I'm fairly certain the tank has never been changed(po said he never took it in). Guess I'll be calling my local dealer tuesday when they open back up.
