really thats cool because my seat belts dont thats awsome!

People have had bitter experiences in being charged for things such as "extra labor to remove bolts that broke due to rust" etc..things such as that.

They tried that on me with my 87 60 and I told them to put all the parts in the back and I would take it to the other Toyota dealership on the other side of town.

I got the truck back no extra charges and they charged TOA about 1500 to change it out.

If you want to check if the recall(s) were done on your truck, This is the Toyota Of America Customer Service number that I used to check. Just explain to them you have an 89 LC and are aware of an open recall (M01) and would like to check if it was ever done to your truck:

800-331-4331

Go get it done immediately if it hasn't been done.
Just for the sake of getting $1000 worth of new OEM parts and labor!
Never hurts to have a brand new fuel take on a 20 year old rig.:hillbilly:
you are right Joe but my worry is that the new one is plastic and that I might be better of with my non rust metal tank :hhmm:

As far as I know they are still made of steel..
Regardless , there is a reason for the recall so you should get it done!
Mine was spewing fuel back out of the filler neck that also got inside the corner panel. It ate the rustproofing up and clogged the drain holes. I then had a water buildup problem in the corner panel.

I got the recall done about 10-15 years ago and never had a fuel belching problem again.

maybe I should look at its record and do the new ones still have the drian plugs?

cool I will also give toyota a call

as far as I know... tanks are metal. I was told my 60 had already had the recall. Fuel tank is metal. How did plastic get in the equation?

i think since member knew most NEW CAR tanks are plastic.....but got to remember this is a 25 year old tank

Hey, let me know how it goes and which dealer you use. I'm in NYC as well and may need to do the same.

No Problem.

So far, the first impression of their service has been decent. I basically gave the Service Manager an idea that i've done my homework and am not looking to get jerked. I told him I'm aware its an old truck, do all work myself and the only reason I brought them the truck is due to the recall never being done and the severity of it. I mentioned that this is my primary form of transportation when I'm with my 9 month old daughter.

The dealer I'm dealing with is Queensboro Toyota. Right off the BQE on Northern Boulevard.

I'll keep you guys posted as the events unfold.

Just got off the phone with toyota of america turns out my rig is in need of both recalls, so it looks like im getting a new fuel tank and both rear out board seat belts
