Wiring Harnesses

Good day mudders. When doing a recent stereo deck install, I noticed that I had a couple of plugs missing. The ECT plug and the Power antenna plug have been cut off! How screwed am I? This was done by the PO for some unknown reason, and I now know why neither of these features work. Can I get new wiring harnesses for this?

You can most likely get a new harness, although it would include the whole harness and not just the connectors you need - and probably cost a lot. I think wrecking yard is your best bet for the connectors and then splice everything back together.

The wires were cut short, and where do I start to know what wires go with what pins?

A factory wiring diagram will tell you which wires go to which pins.

If you do a search, there's loooooong thread about downloading it straight from Toyota for $10. That's how I got mine. I'm not sure if it's still available that way or not. Otherwise, I'm not sure where you would obtain a hard copy. Maybe flea-bay might be a good source.

If you get junk yard connectors from the same year, the wire color codes should match so it would be a matter of connecting like colors together.

Totally, Tom! I am such an idiot sometimes. The "no-brainer" solution had eluded me completely. Thanks! I am off to call the wreckers now! And thanks for all the help on this from all of you.

ps - my Stealership shop guy is going to get me the wiring diagrams free of charge.

If you can get a good look at the opposite plugs they'll have 5 raised digits on them someplace. They can be hard to see but they are there. You can use the Toyota Wiring Harness Repair manual to cross reference this number to find the missing plug part number and the pin/splice part number. The will allow you rebuild the harness.

IIRC the wires should be the same color on both sides of the plug.
