Does anyone have this? I've sent PMs to the few names who turned up through searching who might have the diagrams, but was wondering if anyone had them.

I'm trying to install a new head-unit ( XOvision XOD1740BT) and I am having difficulty because the LX450 has a factory amp and unpowered sub I need to hook up.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, I am at a loss here and I don't want to damage my truck or my new head unit so trying to get this done right.

Thanks again!!

I'd be interested too. When I bought my LX the PO had an aftermarket radio installed and my CD player, sub, antenna, and security system no longer work. I had discovered this prolem after I bought an OEM radio to install.

Keep this in mind for the A/C when installing a aftermarket unit. I had same problem with my a/c unit. It blew cold air when the position sensor was at 64 deg, but would blow hot air when slid above 65 deg. Hope this helps.

Here's a cut/paste of a PM discussion I had recently, helping someone install a aftermarket stereo. I highly recommend bypassing the factory amp and sub, and springing for at least one set of 6.5" speakers for the front doors.

I believe I used the Scosche TA02B harness, which I got from walmart for $10. I bought some 18 gauge wire at radio shack and some butt splice connectors. I connected the harness that came with the stereo to the Scosche harness, using ~20" of wire inbetween to extend the harness to reach the amp location.

You unplug the OEM stereo, and leave that harness alone (exception noted below). Remove the glove compartment (two tabs inside the glove box, and 2 screws on the hinge below the glovebox IIRC), and also pop out the dash speaker. You can then see the OEM amp. Remove the plugs and amp. You can then plug the harness in to the harness that come out of the OEM amp and run the other end of the harness under the dash to the head unit area. Between the head unit and harness documentation, you shouldn't have any trouble splicing the harness together

Exception-I believe I had one wire, which I had to connect to the OEM harness in the dash area, I think it was the antenna trigger wire from the headunit to a wire in the OEM harness.

A pocket is ~$15 and should be available at any car audio store, or online. Cdan can get you a factory pocket w/door for ~$25, IIRC.

Disconnecting the amp disables the sub.

You can always do the door speakers later. I think if you get one set of high quality ($50-100) 6.5" speakers in your front doors, you will be amazed. I am no audiophile, and I was fine with the stock speakers for years, but definitely notice a huge improvement with the new speakers, more than I expected.

This one is a further clarification to help him understand:

As the harness goes, the OEM harness that the OEM stereo was plugged in to, is not needed (except for that one wire I mentioned). So you leave those plugs dangling in the dash behind the head unit. The new stereo will come with a harness that has a plug/s on one end that plugs into the new stereo and the other end will have loose wires you normally connect to the vehicle harness.

The Scosche harness has loose wires on one end, which correspond to the loose ends from the new stereo harness. The other end of the Scosche harness is a plug/s, these plug/s are the ones that plug into the vehicle harness that originally was coming out of the OEM amp.

Due to the distance between the head unit and the amp wire harness location, the two harnesses spliced together are not long enough, so you need to use the butt splice connectors and spool of wire to "extend" the harnesses about 20". After extending/splicing the harness you will have a harness with the new stereo plug on one end, and the schosche plug on the other end. I recommend you wrap the harness with electrical tape or conduit of some sort, to keep it neat, and so wires don't get caught when routing it beneath/behind the dash.

In the end, you are left with the factory plugs dangling and unused behind the new head unit, and the plugs which went in to the amp also dangling unused, but you will be using the plug/harness which came out of the amp and goes to the speakers. You won't be able to tell which plugs are in/out of the amp harness, except that the scosche plug/s will fit the right harness/es and not the other.

A OEM stereo will be a big downgrade from any aftermarket stereo.

The AC problem is not related to wiring the stereo, but is related to removing the dash trim/panel, if the wiring or tube that go to the HVAC panel are removed accidentally.

my friend just put an after market radio in an LX. He had to get two aftermarket harnesses. The first one wired into one of the factory plugs where it got power and ground and had RCA connectors to run a low level signal to the factory amps.

Since he wanted to omit the factory amps he got a second harness that plugged into the factory harness at the amp and provided the wiring at the head unit to connect it directly to the amps in that unit.

Kind of a PITA compared to a LC.

He didn't have to do that, if he would have used the $10 scosche harness. I originally installed my headunit with the amp integration harness, then later replaced it with the bypass harness, was actually a piece of cake, once I had the right harness, and knew what I was doing.
