First snow here in OH today - and still have my OEMs on and they crusted up pretty good.

I have used Anco winter blades before and they were pretty good, however thought I would ask?

I've been super happy with the Bosch Icon for the past two winters (and the other 3 seasons too ;)).

I use the Michelin winter blades all year here in Michigan. Best blades I've ever used. Combined with the Rain-X orange washer fluid, again all year, I've had no problems in any conditions with having a clear view.

x2. Put them on both the LC and ES and work great. Quiet. Clean swipe. No hot spots. Spendy, but worth it.

Does anyone know what the difference is between the Bosch Icon 422A and 422B? They look the same and but the A is $2 more......whats the difference.

Also FWIW i have Icons on the '01......i like them and for those who are curious, the Icon 416A works for the rear

I think the 422A/B difference is in where the center position (mount) is located along the blade chord.

Yep, have the 416A for the rear and it works great (when needed). The air deflector actually does a pretty good job, it's only in stop/go that I need to turn it on.

when i lived where it snowed (Maryland) I would run Trico winter blades....which I think were the FIRST winter specific blades marketed...I liked the heavy rubber boot that keeps the blades from clogging with snow and ice slush. The frames are really heavy duty as well....never had an issue with them.

Just run Trico Neoform year round now...great blades.

I think I've tried every brand mentioned here and quite a few others for snow. I never saw a big difference other than new blades always worked better than whatever I was replacing. I just replaced my stock rubber, worked well in heavy, sticky snow today.

wow. am i the only one that HATES the bosch icons? those are the loudest wipers (seriously obnoxious) ive ever had. especially in super cold temps. they also seem to have a tendancy to build up ice on the ends of em. and there super goofy looking imo.
-atleast thats been my experince.
-ill be going cheap-o next time and just swap em out sooner. cant find anything special about em.

The only time I've had an issue like you describe is when there has been wax on the windshield. Other wise they function as expected.

FWIW: I tried the BS Silblades...supposed to last 5-years and all that BS. Yeah right...BS is what they are. That was an expensive learn

That's good to hear about the Silblades. Last year I put Icons on the hundy when we got it, as I couldn't find Silblades locally and we needed wipers badly. I was going to try them next swap, now I know.

I didn't hate the Icons, but I didn't love them. I had them on my Tacoma for two winter seasons. They were OK with ice and snow build up, but they didn't last long. I will say there were noisy, as well.

Recently, I've been using Rain-X's equivalent; the Latitude, I think? The snow and ice build up is a little worse, but quieter and wipes a helluva lot better.

The absolute best wipers I've ever owned were Valeo. All others have based their design off of them. They are tough to find in the correct size. WalMart would occasionally carry them, as does Tire Rack.

If you can find Valeos use those. They have no equal.

I put on Icons after I bought the LX this spring and I haven't been real pleased with them. They have done well on my other vehicles but it seems like the pass side misses a lot of goo on these ones. I'm pretty particular about having clean glass though (eye glasses, sun glasses, mirrors, windshield, etc.) but it drives me nuts. I had wondered if it was a windshield contour thing that the Boschs were having trouble dealing with but too many of you guys like them for that to be a thing.

Is there anything else I can do to help the wipers out? I've never looked at waxing the windshield or anything like that. Should I?

As a Colorado driver, I use Bosch Icon's and good deicer in the washer sprayer like Rain-x or Prestone. The rain-x used to be better than it is now, I think they've changed their formula. FWIW, I have been through OEM, Michelins, Rain-X, Goodyear and other brands. Bosch does the best for me.

Trico winter (AKA blizzard) best I've used in snow, at least the old ones.

Valeo Ultimate (900 series) all the way. The Tricos are far behind when it comes to following the curvature.
The ONLY other wipers which work well are the OEMs, but they are less good in freezing temps.
