Stainless retainers worth the $$

I just finished installing the stainless clips I got from Bruce / 60wag -- My wipers work like new! Great fix, ingenious. Both of my plastic bearings were blown out and the whole assembly was rattling around. Tight as can be now. Thanks Bruce.

Bump idee bump BUMP.

Just did this myself. All of a 10 min job.
Great fix, the wipers are clean and crisp and no longer periodicaly fall off.
Just a note to any one thinking about doing this;
you do not need to remove the entire linkage assembly, all parts can be esily accessed by removing the wiper motor (four bolts) and one inspection plate (two screws)
One on the best $15 fixes on my truck.
Thanks for the parts Bruce.

I heard about this problem a couple of years ago on the TLCA mailing list and if I remember some guy posted up some part number to replace it with on there.

I will see if I can find it.

Just got done putting on 60wag/Bruce's wiper clips and man they work great. Solved my problems with the wipers. Best $15 bucks spent yet on this cruiser of mine.

Thanks for sending them before my payment even cleared. This guy just saved me a good chunk of change and wanted to let you guys know his fix works.

Only needed to use one of them on mine. The other bearing still looked brand new under the rubber protective coating. So I still got one on stand by for when ever that other plastic crap one gives out.

Thanks Bruce!!!!!!!!!!! You the man

wiper slop

Wondering how i can get some of those for my 60. ( hello 60 wag ). Are they an easy fix ? PS I'm new to this site . HELP

Hi I'm just learning how to use this site. I'm hoping this is going to 60 Wag only . I'm just wondering if I could get some of those stainless pieces you made up . Email me your # or something . I'm so sick of those wipers

booger, send him a private message using the bullitien board.

click on his name up above and a screen should apear asking like 4 different things. Choose to send a privat message and go from there.

Its not hard, I took my windshield wiper motor and arm completely out to inspect them. Takes about 30 min. It makes it easier if you take the hood spring thing loose from the hood on the passenger side and let it lay in the engine compartment so you can fish the wiper arms out easier. There are two inspection plates on the fire wall with screw you take off so you can get your hands up in there when putting it back together.

Then just do what his instructions say to do. Its alot easier than you think it would be.

An update on the wiper clips: They are no longer in production. I've changed jobs and no longer have access to the machines I used to make them. :( If they become available again in the future, I'll update this thread.

Whew, good thing I got mine when I did then. Them things work great!

anyone w/ extras want to share?

It'd be much appreciated.....winter is coming quick here in CO, even though the high was 76 today.

60WAG, Any chance you can still do these up? Its just started to rain here in LA and the wipers are driving me nuts.

Able to make these, again, by any chance ?

Just read through this thread. I'd also be interested if you could make these again. Sounds like it takes all the slop out of it. Mine are in poor shape.

This is my fix:
Remove the crank arm from the regulator motor.
Grind the back off the bearing thingie and punch it out.
Get a 9/16" Bolt, nut & washer.
Get a half hemisphere rubber bushing, mine's out of a bathroom sink feed line.
Get some locktite.
Assemble as in drawing:
