any pictures of the weatherstrip between the windshield and cowl? or is it the same as later years?

Different. It is just a piece of flat rubber, no ribs. I would have to check to see if I have one easy to get to. If I know where one is I can take picture of at my other storage. Might be a while until I get to it.

is it a fairly thin piece? like the windshield vent gasket?
Pretty thick. 3/8? I have one sitting in my garage. I'll take a pic.
