Which direction is correct, high part front or back? I've seen pictures of them both ways, including both ways on the FJCompany website (though the shape is different in each one). Because I have a spotlight in the windshield, I can't fold mine down to see which way is functionally correct.

That been debated a few times. I prefer the higher in the back like the blue one. Find it interesting neither of those cruiser have the correct windshield rests on hood for that style windshield. Can't tell on my phone the hinges do not look correct either. Who's photos are these?

Hello there, that windshield is from later 40’s, something we do to improve wiper functionality. It’s also not coming down anytime soon as it’s wired with a rear view mirror/camera. In our case, the hooks are there for decoration ;)

In any case, IF it were a period-correct build, we *think* the proper direction is for the higher portion of the bumper to be towards the front. But after reviewing a bunch of pics, I couldn’t find any consistency to prove that. Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 1961 to 1974 market - CLASSIC.COM

The higher part has to be back or the wipers on the older windows hit the hood. On the new windows I don’t believe this would be an issue.

Believe with a newer windshield with the correct hinges would want the taller section forward since the newer hinges move the pivot point forward. If the newer windshield actually need the newer hinges is another thing not 100% of. Believe I've some have replaced the windshield not the hinges and were still able fold it down. :meh:

Now I can't believe the brain fart I've had- I just looked at my pictures from before my restoration, and my '67 originally had the flat bumpers! My friend the PO had bought a bunch of new parts, including the uneven bumpers. But now I'm even more confused- Specter catalog shows the flat ones as '58-'65. I'm pretty sure what I removed were original. Who knows. I'll accept that it's just one of those topics of conversation. I am going to turn mine around- from measuring, it looks like the windshield fits into the 'L' when the high part is forward. And I'm sticking with it.

Yep, flat for a '67. SOR is a tad bit off. Here is a stock '67 build for the year '68. They be flat.
Could a prior owner have change them? There is "always" a maybe. Go to ebay and look for FJ40 ads/brochures. That may help.

Thanks for the confirmation. Interesting how tall yours are- my originals were much shorter, and don't look like they'd keep the wipers from hitting the hood.

On my 1974, it has to go tall end to the front. But I have no idea if that is “correct”, only that’s the only way it works on mine.

Ahh the quirky world of the 40.

I learned something today from "living in the past". One year only for the cushions/bumpers, I'll be dipped.

bb67tl...that looks to be a little peach, lovin' the color.
