So I replaced both front window regulators, but I’m still having issues with speed. I used some dry Teflon spray on the felt tracks, but it didn’t help. I’m thinking I didn’t need new regulators in the first place. Anyone have a product they use/recommend? The rears are even worse…
 
You need to replace the window runs. Over time they become very coarse and brittle. This condition creates a lot of friction on the windows, slowing it down.

Check out the numerous threads on this site for slow windows. The vast majority had to replace the runs. Lube doesn’t help much if at all

I think I’ll go ahead and replace the window runs. Do I need to replace the them all the way down into the door panel or just the window openings? I’ll check out the other threads. Thanks for the info. Anyone have part numbers?

Read more of the existing threads. People say that silicone paste will attract dirt and make things worse in the long run. Dry silicone spray seems to give better results.

IMO the window runs don't make nearly as big a difference in the front, because only a small part of the front edge of the window is trapped against the window run.

The grease in the motors hardens after a few decades. There are threads about cleaning out the old grease and putting in new grease, but I'm pretty sure they ended up replacing them with aftermarket window motors because it still didn't work that well.
 
Mine are getting pretty bad. Haven’t cleaned or sprayed since last year - good reminder here.

There is also the alternator upgrade, no? Not sure if that had been considered.
 
I’d be willing to bet the same amount of power goes to the window motors regardless of alternator output. What I wish existed was a brushless motor upgrade for the aged motors in these things. That would be something.
 
Boeshield. I use it all the time on 40's, but have never had to do it with an 80. It is a great aerospace lubricant (developed by Boeing) that goes on wet and flashes off, leaving a slippery, dust resistant, and waterproof residue. Works great on old crusty 40 regulators and window runs when they are tight. It may be an option for you.

Is that the T-9 lube? All I'm seeing is the T-9 rust prevent/metal cleaner type stuff.
 
You re probably right. It will make the issue worse! Good point about front windows. I replaced the regulators and the window is hopping along the track as it goes up.

Is the product “Boeshield T9”?

Yep. Works great in windows and less protected door skins for that reason.

 
I have boeshield for my outboard and it works great as a protective lubricant. I don’t dunk my truck in the water when launching the boat, but have also sprayed it on my rear axle a time or two during the summer, and it sheds water & road debris really well. May try that instead of silicone.

I don’t think I’d use fluid film in the window runs. Boeshield seems thinner and better suited for something like that, but could be wrong
