I have a friend who is trying to sell me a never used Warn 6000 lb winch. I know it is on the light side but I can get it at a very reasonable price. Any of you have any experience with this winch? I have a 72 fj lightly modified with 32" MT's.

absolute minimum winch size outta be vehicle weight x 1.5....

4500# for a FJ40 x 1.5 = 6750#.....

IMO, you will regret anything less than an 8000# winch....

Will be great for your car trailer...

8274-50, and be done with it.

Good luck!

I would go with an 8-9000 pound winch.

I run two 660 cca batteries in parallel to my 8274 and have stalled it attempting to pull myself up onto some wet, heavy snow.

Bigger is better.

I knew I would get these answers but I just wanted to double check. My friend got stuck with this winch and before I bought a different model I wanted to see if I could help him out.

Thanks for the feedback.
