I just received a Warn 8274 in a trade. It needs a remote control. Should I contact Warn directly or go through a regional dealer? There are some numbers on the gear case but the label has faded away. I wanted the serial number, build date, etc. but I don't know which number is which. Can anyone help? Matt

The last remote I bought came as a up-grade kit.. remote, solenoid cover and plug.... some rewiring is necessary.. about $120.00

Got it from Warn.... DSI in San Antonio... if you are not in a hurry? I may have a good one.. but it'll be Monday before I can check... I will need to know how many pins your plug has..

No big hurry. The plug on the winch has six holes in it but it appears only three are hooked up. I can see the metal terminals in the holes. I don't know how old the winch is although it is in pretty good shape. I got a number off the case that I would think would be a serial number but, the Warn site doesn't list a number that low on their replacement parts page.

I got all my stuff from http://shercosales.com/

Don't know what's up with Warn's serial #s, but newer winches can have older looking #s and vice versa. By changing my motor control, I changed from a 3 pin to a 5 pin connection on the control (IIRC)

I might have a booty-fabbed remote for postage...I'll check. PM me if'n you want it.

Ed

You lucky bastards beat my Tigers!!!!!!!!!!;)

find out if anyone services warn products locally and get a used one my last one was 15$ .just an idea.

I guess I need to find out which plug I have. The plastic plug on the cover has six holes in it. But it looks like there are only three terminals in use. Would ya'll think it is then a three pin?. Matt

Ed, sorry 'bout that 'ol Aggie whuppin' we put on ya'll today. We get lucky every now and then!!

That's why they came up with the replacement up-grade crap... to cover both 3 & more pin plugs.. 1 part fixes all...
