I am getting ready to mount a M8000 winch that is coming my way. Have been searching around and doing some reading on how to do this but I still have some questions. I am new to winches and I am still learning. Due to the way my saginaw box mounts and the front stinger the top of the frame rails is all used up. I have built a front bumper that is bolted to the front frame rails using 6 1/2 grade A bolts that run through a 1/4 plate that is welded on the end of the frame rails. Some of the winch bumpers I find have the winch plate welded to the bumper and then the bumper still bolts on the front is this a good way to do this? I would like to weld a plate and braket off the bumper to mount the winch on then use the bolting system I have already on the bumper but I am wondering if this would handle the load. I tend to have OCD about crap like this, just don't wanna have a failure and hurt something or worse somebody. Here are a couple pics of what I have.

If I end up going to the CC run you can look at what I did, unless you're wanting to get it mounted before then. I can see if I have a pic. I've stalled my m8000 and everything hung together fine.

Hopefully you can make, would like to take a look at. The winch won't be here in time

Any more ideas or thoughts if the 6 bolts will be enough to hold. Thinking maybe tying in to the back frame brace also.

What about welding a mounting plate in the middle of the front stinger at the bottom. You could weld the plate to the bumper too. Mount winch feet forward. The fairlead will be at a downward angle but thats not a big deal.

It looks like the stinger with the rear bracing should take the forces just fine.

Or buy/find a new/used 8274 and get that between your frame rails?

I think I have it all figured out. It will sit between the frame rails and going to be about an inch offset to one side, kinda drives me nuts but I guess it kinda needs to be due to box. Doesnt look bad and I can sleep knowing that it should not fail. Broke down and bought a fairlead mount hated to do it but would have spent way more time making one and it was not a bad price. I will post pics tomorrow of what I have for others to see and get ideas from.

I have the winch mounted now and think it's going to work out good. The plate is 5/16 and the frame and bumper plates are 1/4. Welded the back to match the angle of the frame brace and welded solid and the front is drilled for 3 7/16 bolts and taped on the bumper side. I can still take off the whole front end so when I rebuild a motor should go good. here are some pics
