There’s lots of 8274 models - specifically looking for my year or model

Warn 8274, or possibly a precursor of it as it doesn't have a free-wheel clutch... not sure if that makes it an early 8274, or a previous model.

Ya it’s definitely early - if need anymore pics of specific areas let me know ... need to get it working

Sorry, I don't have any knowledge to pin it down more precisely. Maybe email warn with a few pics. Or browse the 8274 threads in the winching and recovery subforum here on mud looking for others who have one with the automatic brake, but no free wheel to get an idea of vintage / appropriate serial number?

Isn’t yours stamped with the serial number or date code?

It's not the predecessor (which was the belleview/warn) if it has a hand held controller. The first gen of the 8274 was just called "8000" where the serial number or model number would be. Those were made up until the late 60's? Then it officially changed to 8274. Yours appears to be an early 8274 and there will be no way to know what year it was produced or anything of that nature honestly. You can contact Warn to get a bracket of time but that's about it. Warn is still making the 8274 and it's essentially the same as the one you have there.

ON getting it going, disconnect and clean all of the terminals to begin with. Check connections from the plug to the relays. If those relays aren't making a discernable "click" sound when power is provided it's dead most likely. They are readily available.

Google is your friend. Its an 8074

@gnob is right. The 8074 does not have the free-spool clutch and knob that the 8274 does.
