Noob here. For my first post I've got a query on the various Warn winches available to fit an ARB bull bar. I've got the newer one I believe (3410100). I've done a search and read through various threads but didn't arrive at a concensus on which one to buy. I'll probably never use it except to pull the clueless out of the ditch on the road to our ski area and self recovery if I get carried away on camping trips.

Of the ones that will apparently fit in the 8000-9000lb range I've narrowed it down to:
XD9000, M8274, M8000 (cheapest), and 9.5xp.

The 8274 seems to be the venerable workhorse but may not fit without modification. The XD9000 and M8000 are the cheapest, and the 9.5xp is apparently better sealed and faster. I really know nothing about winches except I've used them to pull super heavy rafts onto trailers after river trips on the Colorado River. Amazing how strong they are.

Right now I'm leaning toward the 9.5xp because of the lower profile and perhaps better fit. Thanks and I hope to be a repeat offender on the forum after spending most of my time on subaru, ski and mtn bike forums:cheers:

forgot to add :flipoff2: (welcome)

while you can probably modify the bumper to fit the 9.5xp, the 3 above are what it is designed to fit without mods. Otherwise, you can search and i know folks have fit larger or different ones...

which may have been your original question... but the specific model you noted fits those 3.

Anyway - GL!

Hey, thanks a bunch. I just finished the lift today with some help and killing time at Discount pirating wireless and waiting for tires.

Hi All:

Well, from what you've wrote so far I'd vote for a Warn M8000 and a snatch block in your recovery bag.

Should be plenty for the occasional pull.

Regards,

Alan

Thanks for the replies! I found a good deal on the M8000. I suppose i'd better take a winching 101 class so I don't hurt myself or others:D
