Entire books have been written on the subject of self recovery and some discussion of it has been posted here in the past. Do educate yourself...because it is all too possible to seriously injure yourself or others.

It's not just a casual word of warning, either; it does happen:

I'll never hook a snatch strap to the back of my truck with anyone even near it, other than the poor driver...

Hey Sparkey,
What are you plans for the alternator?
I have read that the oem alt can barely power the truck as is.
Attaching all this additional load then becomes another problem.
I can only afford one winch and she is not bolted to my front bumper
I am sure urban land cruisers will be glad to help you plan it

Actually this is a good question as a whole. Has anyone done anything about the alternator? It does seem a little weak after adding some accessories. I haven't heard of anyone doing anything about this.

But I digress this is quite a thread hijack...

"Alterstart" in Dallas, TX. makes an all new Nippondenso IR/IF 150 amp. W/two groove pulley for about $250.00

It makes 55-60 amps. at 800 rpm and 150 amps. at 1600 rpm.

I have no affiliation with them, but have their products on a couple of other vehicles I own...and have been very satisfied with them.

Be a man, buy a M12000 and run stock electrical system.
