will not idel

here goes,

i have a motocraft 2150 on a 2f (please do not tell me i need a stock carb) it ran good as gold for a good four years was at cold creek and bang it just will not idel. tried a differnt carb did same thing, made sure no leaks on intake or from carb, it has a dui ing checked that and everything is good. any good suggestions... ps it will run if you hold the gas at 2500rpm but if you let off it will idel for a second or two the backfire out the carb.

Howdy! Not familiar with the motocraft, but does it have an electric idle solinoid like OEM carbsw? THAT is a common problem. Could be weak fuel supply, filter/pump. But sounds more like a timing problem. Way to advanced? John
