Good Day Gentlemen!

Does anyone out there know if I can mount 35x12.5x15 BFG MT on my stock 4runner wheels 15x6.5 with no adverse affects??

Thanks,

I ran 33x10.50 Swampers on Tacoma rims back when I was driving an 81 pickup. These worked out really well, and made the truck look great.

35x12.50's would be a little tall for such a narrow rim, you may have problems when you air down for the trail, as well as problems with the tire crowning when you're out on the street. Then again, I run a 37x14.50 on a 10" rim without any problems right now on my DD...

I added a picture of it for you non-believers. I think these were a 15x6.5" rim from Toyota.

Dude, those are the 7" wheels, pretty much all the alloy versions from '84 onward are 7" and made for a 10.50 tire. Older model steel wheels are 6", but latter model 92-95 and tacoma steel wheels are 7". Also the taller the tire the less you need to worry about say a 12.50 tire on a 7" wheel. I ran a 31x12.50 on a 7" wheel, a 32x12.50 and a 33x12.50. The 33" tire has the least amount of tread crowning and the sidewalls seem to flex near the proper areas. On the 31" tires, the sidewalls didn't look to bludge in the proper area but worked fine. This mostly translates into heat buildup.

My buddy used 35x12.50s on the 7" alloy rims. They worked OK. They were a little round, but if you ran like 20-22 psi street preasure they flattened out allright.

One good thing: It is really hard to break beads with to skinny rim size when aired way down.

They will probably rub really bad though, and naturally handling will be more squirmy than a wider rim. I like to use 8" wheels with 12.50s. They are still supposed to be to skinny but I like the stance better than 12.50s on the perscribed 10" wheels, and they stay on rims better. I guess what I'm trying to say is try it and if it sucks for you, get different rims.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the info. I was gonna mount them this week on the 6" rims. I just thought I'd get some practical advice from someone who's already done it..

I really would like to use these old steel factory rims vs my 10" aluminum rims,

You're totally right. Those alloy rims were 7 inches wide.

Sorry, temporary memory lapse...
