why would an odometer stop turning while the trip still works??? help

I finaly got my blue brick running down the road legaly yesterday and drove it about 50 miles and noticed that the odometer does not turn. the speedo works fine nice and smooth. the trip meter works fine logigng the miles as driven.

on the odometer the 0193299. stays the same and the tenths number turns in conjunction with the trip meter.

any thoughts????

since the speedo and trip meter work i don't feel a cable is the problem.

Check the classifieds(rigs parting out section) I am sure you will find one cheap in there.

Check the Yota Yard, most probably they have one. Also there's couple of places that they repair odometers, I lost the address of the shop; do a Google search. I just had one fixed.

I recommend you call a speedometer shop in your area. The speedo heads on older cars are repairable (if the shop hoards used heads for scavaging parts). You will probable pay the same price or less for repairing the meter than replacing it and you will be able to keep the origonal head with the correct milaege.
Speedo shops are not all the same. Some don't like to perform repairs. You gotta find one that is old school and has a technician who keeps his own used parts inventory.

There's at least 1 good one in San Diego (S.D. Speedo/Tach) where I'm from. Also here in Costa Rica there are about 1000 shops that would repair it for you.

Thanks guys i live in a rural part of virginia and there are no speedo shops around, but a mud member had one for a good price and it should be on the way soon.
