Keep looking. I wanted one for about 2 years. Went to see plenty and passed on them all. I have just bought an '89 model with 81,000 miles. One previous owner and a diesel (only have diesels in the UK) I paid $4,500 but will end up spending on new leaf springs and a paint job. My advice is keep your money in your pocket until you find the right one - you will....eventually
Sean, I bet thats the one he is looking at........sounds like it to the tee!
Steve, I had my A440F rebuilt localy with a new torque converter(old was oK but then in there I asked for a new one) for $2000 about 4-5 years ago.
the one in Seattle sound like something to pass on, replaced motor and rust......just to many possible issues.

Here's one in Wenatchee - another one with a slipping tranny, prolly just needs a new valve body - $700 DIY job. I know nothing about it other than what I saw in this post to the 3FE list. By the way, you should join the 3FE list on Yahoo - the best collection of knowledgeable FJ62 owners are there: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/3FE/
Hi All;
Just found all posts and question the WA cruizer is the one that i was talking about. so now new trans for 2g's and 14 year 185000 engine ??? If rust and condition was as stated and price was lower to afford the trans issue ...possible good buy?????I DO REALIZE THAT THEY DO TAKE SOME MAINTAINENCE I plan to buy one to keep for a very long time.Pictures show that it doesnt look bad interior appears clean...SOOOOOOOO what do ya thing EXPERTS
IS THIS A PASS OR CHECK OUT PLEASE respond
Ok guys, since you are giving my Cruiser so much play, I feel the need to chime in.
My Cruiser is the one with the slipping tranny / torque converter. I have an excellent Cruiser mechanic - he owns one himself - He is the one that said he thinks it is the torque converter. He admit it is only a guess at this point. After reading some of Rodney's comments from the Rod Shop, I think maybe it is the valve body. After it is warmed up, I have had other mechanics tell me nothing is wrong. It is anybody's guess.
Unfortunately my wife does not feel the same way about Cruisers as I. Therefore the reason for selling. I have found a 4Runner to replace my Cruiser and need to sell her to a good home. I have REDUCED the price to $4000.00. I am trying to be as honest as possible about her condition. You may see her at this link.
Tom V,
Shot you an e mail was looking to take a look at the cruiser on sunday if possible.
To be honest dont know much about trans problems just know what 3 trans people said EXPENSIVE if you need to rebuild.I am very intrested in your cruiser but want to protect myself with a price that can justify the rebuild if needed add to that the cost of body work (450 per You) well you can understand :'( I also have a second half that thinks a vehicle with 185k is a joke they just dont get it do they.Anyway e mail me @ HarleyDavidnSons@adelphia.net lets talk some on a possible price that we both can feel is good thanks ........Dave
