No problem with the Ventshades... And really - BFGs look like crap? Remember, this is a retro rig... so old school is cool. Oh, and the BFGs look especially good with a 3" lift! ;)

Ahhh, I see. So I'm missing out on an inside joke. It's all good.

As far as the rims go, I prefer the Ultra Goliaths. They especially look god with my Toyos and 3" SPACER lift. ;p WITH MUD ON THEM! hehe

BFG At are a decent tire for offroad and road use. I like them because they last long time and are pretty quiet on the road. Get em, if you mainly cruise on road and sometimes offroad. Get the mudders for more off road use. BFG rock!

I still don't like the BFG AT's!!!!!!!!

I have the Toytec custom rear coils with OME shocks and the OME 884 front coils. Don't have it installed yet but i have heard good things about it. It all depends on what you want to spend. You can't go wrong with OME (Old Man Emu) or Toytec. http://www.toyteclifts.com/

WOW, a whole bunch of Sh*t talkers on here, huh?

If I did my research? Who the hell do you think I am? You don't know me or weather or not I did my homework. I DID do my homework and I'm sorry to say that I disagree with whoever it is that did the comparisons of tires. I found and still do find the Toyo tire to be superior to either BFG M/T or Firestone. It's my oppinion and my money to spend. The Toyo tire does the job I want it to do and does it well. Just because some so called expert says a particular tire is better than another I supposed to go with what they say instead of my own experience? Sorry, but no. If I always did that, I'd be a Hummer owner right now.

I agree that tires should not be bought for looks. It's a nice bonus that the Toyo tire is a nice looking tire too though. But if they were as ugly as the BFG, I'd still run them.

So you think spacer lifts are nothing but bling? I have a RevTek lift on my FJ and it has served me well. It gave me more clearance, which is exactly what I wanted. Could I do better with Sway Away? Of course. And the SAW lift is in my future. But I needed clearance to go where I wanted to go and didn't have $1400 to spend. IMO, the stock suspension is adequate on the FJ. It's not as good as SAW either, but it will do for now. But to insinuate that I installed a spacer lift for looks is a bunch of crap. You don't know me either. Some of you guys are full of a lot of hot air here and it kinda tiring.

I suppose all you sh*t talkers here have tens of thousands of dollars to spend on mods and all have the best of the best equipment and everyone else needs to go home?

Have you actually USED the BFG MT's or the Firestone Destination MT's?

Or do you just read reviews from the Tire Rack?

Relax brutha! Tires ain't nothin' to keep worked up about! I prefer BLACKWALLS myself...that's the only thing I don't like...white letter tires. Too 70's redneck blingy to me. But I respect everyone else's opinion.

Spacer lifts suck! visors are for wusses ... lol just kidding. Yoda we've had this talk before no? I like the looks of the BFG's, my opinion ... maybe they will get me stuck in the mud but that's what a winch is for.Maybe they just look good on VooDoos, if I could figure out how to post a damn pic here ...

Uhm, yes I've used BFG MTs. I have a pair on my wife's Wrangler. they suck balls in the rain (IMO), but run real nice in the mud and loose dirt. I've never owned Firestones, but have seen them in action on friends rigs. Didn't like the results too much. I could'nt care less about what Tire Rack says. I've found many reviews from them and others to be biased, or just plain wrong. I get my reviews from people who have used them the way I use them.

I ain't getting worked up about the tires. Just a little annoyed at all the smack talk and broad generalizations from folks. Like you assuming I'm talking out my a**, having never actually owned or used BFG or Firestone tires. Why would I say I didn't like them if I hadn't? It was the BFG A/T that I really didn't like, BTW, not the MTs.

BFG DIFFs

I run the BFG A/Ts on my 60 and they suck in the mud and are even worse in the snow. The BFGs Muds on my 40 are good for off road only bad in the rain/snow. I do change the 60 to BFG muds for offroad. I think it is my mission to tell people BFG A/Ts look great but just plain suck! I run the Revos on 100 and they are the best in the snow/rain. But hey if you do not drive in the snow ignore me.

Here is a pic of my truck. It has 285/70 17 BFG AT's and ... back to the original topic an OME lift. Heavies up front and mediums in the back.

I feel the BFG AT was designed a long time ago and desgined well for a heavy vehicle.

Not lightweight SUV's they are too stiff for the light vehicle.

Now there's a cat who probably just slid into a ditch in the rain because of his BFG-AT's! I agree that the BFG-AT's are older technology and there are better options.

BTW-Were you mauled after removing the CD case??!

They come standard on the TRD version and the new Special Edition TT.....so Toyota Corp at least likes the tire on the FJ....lol

For a daily driver, that you want to take off-road on the weekends, BFG AT's are the best way to go in my opinion. Defiantly not the best for an all-out dedicated off-road rig, especially in the mud, but for all around performance on a variety of terrains, not to mention overall value (a little pricy compared to your average tire, but they last forever), they are the best choice.

P.S. I'm also not saying there aren't better choices out there for people who are willing to compromise some of their road handling/comfort for better off-road capability. It really depends on what you want.

Same guys who use spacers to lift their trucks - performance is not the "primary focus"... Oh, and guys who list vent shades as a mod

What? spacers are bad? Whats wrong with spacers? I plan on abusing the hell out of my truck and upgrading when I can afford it. Does running spacers make me some kind of a joke? Are these guys running chevy gear in their toyota and still alling them toyotas a joke too?
I don't give a s**t what you drive as long as you have fun.

Tires. I've had 6 differnt 4x's and had all different tires on them all. So far I prefer the BFG M/t's. Yes they suck on wet roads, but they work well every where else. I'm not impressed with the all terrains because if you hit any mud they load up. I had some mickey thompson baja claws on one of my 4 runners and they worked well in mud dirt and okay in sand.
Some bad attitudes in this thread, just thought I'd put in my two cents.
It' okay with me if you want to buy an H3, I'll pull you out.

Let's keep it friendly guys, everyone has a valid opinion and let's let everyone express it and welcome different perspectives. Even if we don't agree, we are all part of the same community :)

Thank YOU FIRST TOY!!! What is the deal with all the hatred. We all love wheelin, let's just keep it at that help each other. And what is the deal with all the unwarranted loyalty? Jeeps are better, Toyota's are better, trucks are better. I've owned all three, and loved them equally. I'm sure a bunch of you agree. All E-fighters, just go have a beer and get a BJ, let's all relax. Now back to wheelin.

Check out my signature. I really don't know much about the mechanics/engineering of cars (which i'm sure will piss some of you off, just count to ten and breath.) I still love driving, and i need a new set of tires on my ride. Don't want to buy new wheels, i feel that is a waste of $$. Have the BFG AT's as of now. Wouldn't mind trying something else out, but the guys that put my equipment on say i can't go any bigger. Any suggestions? Are wheel spacers junk? Would like somthing a bit beafier than the AT's, even though they have served their purpose.

Thanks All
