hi, I'm looking in the photographs and I see 3 levers of changes... each I suppose 1 is for gears, the other one for the activation of the 4x4... but the other?

THX!

Any idea?

That setup is a little different in that the transfer lever is on the right side, but if I recall that's a pretty early 25, the BJ was that way too.

Hey Peru,

I've been following your find since your first pictures posted...very nice 25

Question...how do you go about legally registering a "found" vehicle in your name ?

Very very veeeeeery slow....

but now I'm very near to the end of that difficult road... more less in 2 weeks that FJ25 is mine, and then, start the hard work, but first I'm recollecting all the information of that FJ to restore it as new... but I still looking for big FJ25 Photografs, some one can help me PLEASE!!!!!:bang::bang::bang:

ther are other details in that fj25, the fenders have a detail in int in the 2 of them and I was looking for the reason of that, I think is for carring gas cans...

that 25's been thru a really hard life it seems...that dent is unlike any i have ever seen on a 25...i would have to say its vehicle specific...done by whoever bought it...kind looks like a foot step...there are no holes anywhere near it?

This FJ25 was left in Peru By a japan expedition in 1966, since that year the FJ25 stays in that place without moving...

also I'm trying to find if this one is the oldest... not only here in IH8MUD... some one have a contact in Japan to ask? ore something??

THX for the Photos, if you have more post the site please!

cant be a jerry can mount area...it would have never held....i will look into it ....and see what i can find...starnge how it is on both sides...you know aht it looks like underneath the fender....is it actually metal pressed that way? or was it a cut out and that 'step' looking thing welded in?

I cant believe that it has all of those parts still and its been sitting for that long. What a find!!!

did you notice the very early rear doors...Very Cool

soo many cool things ...it will be a challange....but in the end you will have one of the oldest on record

One of the oldest or the oldest ? Im trying also to find that info, because I didnt find an older FJ25...

the mecanical parts are complete, the motor parts are easy to find and the rest is patience and paint jejejejejej  Gear box, front and rear axle are in the truck... the rest is easy, I think...

one thing i would do if i were you i would email Marv Spector...he has seen this tan cruiser in person....from costa rica...it has the same three levers.

ask what year is this rig is exactly? and what is the vin and frame #? is if he even took that down

also has an early tailgate...not like your barn doors

marv's "1955 BJ" has the same 'style' rear doors as your found land cruiser...i would also ask what frame # his 1955 BJ is...the BJ was discontinued in 55....i see your frame # is a 5? for 1955....i wonder if the frames were the same?

EDIT: there was an overlap bj stopped in 55 and fj/bj25 started in 55

is the frame # a 5? it looks not quite like the 6 from the numbers above the vin

Gifu it is said made Marv's 55 into a pick-up in 55...toyota probably copied that styling for their early doors.

so far its yours and the one in costa rica that would be the oldest...only because i dont know for sure the year...i thought it was a 57

last pic is from toyota with your early door style

TOYOTA LAND CRUISER Data Library

I know i have seen those same doors before...i will continue to look into it...

you know technically Marv's 'BJ' is the oldest 'land cruiser' on record....Toyota went to the 'Land Cruiser' name in late? 1954....so the 1955 BJ's were indeed 'Land Cruisers'.

his was one of less than 600 made that year.

AS for FJ25's you may infact have the oldest one right there....as i am really thinking the tan one in costa rica is a 57.

only about 1400 are earlyer than yours ...none of those found yet :)
