Are you saying a 2004 LX wheel will not work in a 2004 LC as it pertains to the airbag?

Nope.

Here's one from a 2005:

Although it's similar, it's not the same at the spokes. You couldn't put this wheel in an UZJ and then re-use your airbag.

The question was about an LS - as in LS430 SEDAN, not LX470 SUV.

God, am I a dunce. We own 2 LS 430's and I didn't even notice the huge interior pic you posted was an LS. Thanks. I"ll try and read/look at photos more carefully next time.

OK, I just can't get used to the wood in the Hundy, so I'm selling the LX wheel and getting my OEM covered by Dallas Custom Wheel.

Anybody interested in the LX Wheel - pristine condition???? :D

Got a picture of the wheel and what year does it fit?

I am interested... just no cash till summer. Bummer man because that is what I want on the '02.

I am afraid to ask.... but how much????

LOL... I'll see if I can snap a pic. It's literally like new. It was a "new old stock" from a Body Shop that ordered it on a collision repair, but then the owner settled with the Ins Co for a total loss on the truck. It had been sitting in storage for about 4-5 years when I bought it. I've had it on a few months, but I just can't get used to the feel of the wood - I've never had one before.

This fits a 1998-2001 LX470 or UZJ100. Probably fits others, but your airbag might not work. This was ordered using the VIN of a 2000 LX470.

If you look at Lexus, they go for $1800+ new.

If you look at eBay, when available, they might go for $400 to $600 as used junk-yard takeoffs with flaking clear coat, scratches, etc.

I would honestly take $450 shipped for it, o.b.o. To get an all-leather wheel re-covered, it's over $300 by itself. This is ALL OEM - leather, wood, etc - EVERYTHING.

I have my old OEM wheel, so if this one sells, then I can ship it ASAP to the buyer and just put my old wheel back on until I get one recovered.

Unfortunately too rich for me right now... but a great deal and I am sure some one will jump on it soon. I was looking at the seat restoration project you did and noticed that Leatherique as a steering wheel restoration kit I am going to give a go this summer....

STEERING WHEEL Re-dye | Leatherique Restoration Products

After the successful job you did on your seats... Have you thought about giving this a go? I now the kit comes with a black dye... But I am guessing if you called them they would set you up a kit that is color correct....

Unfortunately, I took my OEM leather off to let a local shop cut a replacement for me. They screwed it up, and now I'm left with a rubber/mush OEM wheel!

That SUCKS!!!!! Well... I might just be the first to take the plunge......

1998-2001 or maybe 2002. I think they changed the steering wheel in 02 or 03.

The LX wheel I have is the one on the bottom - the actual wheel. I'm going with a recover like the top, but I don't have the stereo controls like that...

Sold the LX wheel last night on eBay for $495...

Chatted with Don at DCSW yesterday. I know I'm getting the extra padding (1/16" thick), but I'm trying to decide if I want the German stitching (extra $30) and the perforations at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock (extra $75). I'm going to get a core wheel covered and then my original back to him afterwards, so this should go quick...

I'll post pics of the final product after I get it in.

New wheel is ordered. I'm going with the original Oak Leather with extra padding and a Mahogany Basting Stitch (german).

Here's a pic of the leather. The thread I'm getting is the one on the right - in the BMW zig/zag pattern instead of the "baseball stitch".

Just got some pics in from Don at Dallas Custom Steering Wheel of my completed rebuild. 2-days as promised and my wheel is ready to ship. I will have it in-hand by Monday. :D

Only problem that I see is that this is an 02+ wheel. I guess I'll find out first-hand if these fit OK in the 98-01 cruisers....

$269 for the recover
+$30 for the custom stitching (instead of baseball-type stitch)
+$30 for the extra padding
+$17 to ship it to me

$346 total for the work

+$75 core charge on top of that (paid $421, getting this part back)

Having a nice, plush, NEW feel to the only part of the vehicle that you actually touch with your bare skin = PRICELESS.

You will have to take my word for it until you FEEL the difference for yourself, but when I replaced the worn leather on my old 4Runner with a new kit, the feel of the entire truck changed. It was thicker, so it made the wheel feel better in my baseball-mit hands. It had a cushioned feel and added grain instead of the slick japanese leather feel of the OEM skin. It really did make driving the truck go from OK, to actually being more enjoyable. I would get in the truck after driving my acura for a few days and as soon as I'd grab the wheel, I would think to myself how much better that one felt than the one in the Acura. It really does make a difference since it really is the only piece of the entire vehicle that you have to constantly contact/feel with bare skin while driving.

Ok, so who here needs a 2002-2007 Steering Wheel?

It will mechanically fit on the spindle of the steering shaft, but the Airbag and Rear Trim Piece will NOT fit to this Steering Wheel Frame...

Here's some pics of the thickness difference (mine no longer has leather, so it's really skinny) and the frame differences.

Bamachem,

I can't use the wheel and I'm sorry to hear about your fitment issue.

I do have a question for you though regarding your original wood wheel. Why didn't you have this wheel rebuilt by Dallas in all leather? Isn't this possible? Seems like they just take the leather off and then disassemble the wood trim.

I've got a 2000 LX with wood and I'm wondering if I should send them my steering wheel to a complete leather wheel back.
