Who's Interested - REPLACEMENT LEATHER for the Steering Wheel - NOT A COVER

That's the first one he sent me. It would fit an 03+ ONLY so I had to send it back along with my original.

Be aweare that the wheel listed was NOT originally covered in leather - it's a "vinyl" wheel from a Sienna/Tundra/Sequoia/etc that he covered with extra padding and leather. Only difference is that its SUPER thick (OEM diameter + padding + leather) and is also slightly smaller in overall steering wheel diameter than a leather wheel.

Thanks. I got a hold of him this afternoon and am going to pull my wheel this weekend. I've got another car to drive

Bamarock,
How did yours turn out? Did you upsize the grip, too?

All who upsized,
Any signs of the foam twisting in your hands?

All,
Appreciate all of your inputs into this thread. I'm undecided on which direction I will go. Your sacrifice has made my process easier....for which I'm grateful!

Shane made it clear to me he does not endorse upsizing the grip, which I can appreciate.

I do like the idea of customizing, including the different stitching. The downtime with Dallas is not appealing, but probably tolerable.

I ended up not doing that at the last minute because the next day, I had a limb hit my roof and AC unit at home and had to fix both out of pocket. :bang: Tuesday, I ordered a recovered wheel from one of the vendors on ihdmud. I'll post up pics and steps when it comes in. It shouldn't be more than a 10 minute swap.

I upsized the padding and it did not roll in my hands when trying to break it loose. Felt GREAT.

The Dallas Steering Wheel recovered wheel installed on my FJ60. Took a bit of custom machining. Love the thick grip.
