I'm curious on the insurance decision to total. surely the cost to fix was an order of magnitude less than the value of the vehicle? Perhaps the parts lead time was factored into the decision?

You can buy a new one for that but no idea when you can actually take possession. Would be a great parts car while waiting for that service and repair parts supply chain to get up to date.
