Working on a front bumper and need to get some holes pressed in a dimple die. I called some local hot rod and machine shops. The hot rod guys can punch beveled holes but only in relatively thin material (1/8 max). Machine shops wonder wtf I'm talking about. Anyone have a lead in southeastern PA?

If you google "dimple dies" this is what comes up. I guess I could buy the die set I need but I don't have a shop press either.

how thick of material are you looking to do this in? Generally they are not meant for thick material. If its a flat plate, I could machine holes with a chamfer for you.

If you can make it to South-West PA, I can press them for you. I have dies and a press. I regularly press in 1/8" plate, but have done it in 3/16" & 1/4" on occasion.

Guys, thanks for the responses.

I have family in Claysburg, pretty close to Somerset. My wife and I have our first baby on the way, within the next 2 weeks sometime. Maybe something will work out with traveling/ visits that I could swing by and take you up on it.

I have a few kickin' around my shop as well...
Pacer, I haven't looked at your profile, whereabouts are you located?

Maybe I'll do half with each of you guys and get to meet/ hang out with a couple local guys lol. Cases of adult beverage provided and many thanks for reaching out fellas. What size pilot holes should I consider cutting? Haven't planned exactly yet what I wanna do. It would probably be 3/16 or 1/4 material, and I'm ok with it barely making a dent. I just like that extra touch of detail.

Remaley Mfg in Tamaqua does punch work, they've been in business since the late 1800's. Can't you just drill the holes?

Lots has happened for us in 4 months. Had a baby, moved to Philly. New job, new school. Things are settling down and time to work on the LC again. @Pacer you have a PM.

Also, I don't really know, but I think you're supposed to drill the holes with a hole saw first, then the dimple die just gives it that beveled chamfered look. Correct me if I'm wrong.
