i see those slider steps on photos of non-US cruisers all the time. are they sliders? steps? running boards? OEM? aftermarket? i can't figure it out!

OEM for everywhere 'cept the US i think, i guess they're step/running boards, they mount via 4 brackets to the bottom of the body.

They do provide moderate protection, but in general are pretty useless if you suddenly slide onto of a rock/log.

yap .. X2 are only mild alum steps .. easy ready for any dent, but since she is my DD and mall crawler I like 'em for a while ..

I will have to post a picture for a friend of mine here. His handle is shm2 something. he was the designer of the homemade engine stand which is in the tools and fab section.
this is a pic i took last march. I dont think it gets driven too much anymore, its having auto trans problems.
1993 FZJ80, no lockers.

I am just proud to have driven this thing, it took lots of abuse, and took it like an absolute champ.

No pics.

Just turned 199k this past weekend. Bought in '05 w/ 155k from the 3rd owner. He had a pretty complete service record folder and it looks like there was some collision work done (paint is still very glossy) and a new Radiator installed at some point but that's about it.

I did a birf rebuild at 170k, New belts and replaced a squeaky idler pulley, Shaky side mirror mod and I need to replace my driver's side window motor for the 3rd time (Autozone lifetime warranty!)

We use it to tow a lot but it still runs like the Energizer Bunny! Leaks and/or burns about 1 quart of oil between changes....

This thing has all original head gasket, timing chain, auto trans (pops out of reverse), axles, and has had the valve seals in the valvetrain replaced once. It doesn't burn or leak oil

There was one for sale a couple of months ago here in seattle. It was a '94 and had 409 k on the odometer. Ran just purdy... but the dealer was still asking 5k for the thing.

This is what I'm talking about but we have no proof!

Then there is the non US 80 with 370,XXX km divided by 0.621371192 = 595,457 miles (that's the formula I got from google:meh:) is this right? Is this a diesel??

I want to see a US 80 with over 400k on it...is it out there??? tdkhelene said he saw one but I want info and pics! Or even better a US 80 with 500k now that would really be:eek::eek::eek: amazing!!!

1 mile = 1.6 km

my 80 is 333,847 miles = 534,155.2 Km

188356 miles on a 1996 = all original - only starter and plugs have been replaced- nothing major. EGR is next repair. Runs great, alternate oils (Mobil, Rotella) and typically fix things only if they break. :D

pictures

Here are 2 pics of the 96 lc. Its ben raining for 2 days so pic is kinda dark. Love this web site. I spend way to much time on these web pages. Whats wrong with me> My wife ask the same question.

Nice! Good job keep'n her maintained and on the road!

Come on, somebody has to have 400k:confused:!

OK, I'll volunteer to drive my 80 another 183K ASAP, if you buy the gas & maintenance costs.:D
 nice try but I don't want it that bad!!!

I have a 93 LC bought it and it had 147,000 miles and now it has 301,xxx and the only thing I have done besides normal maintenace is replace the rad. one O2 sensor and alt. but at the moment replacing the HG.

328,000 miles on my 1991 FJ80. I had a feeling I'd be one of the highest and I was right. The amazing thing is that I believe it is still on the original HG. I'm the third owner and have had it from 316,000 until now. The PO had it from 50,000 until 316,000 and did not replace the HG. I can attribute this to the awe inspiring 3FE and great maintenance. Change your oil religiously and make a check list of things to do on a regular basis. I will take a pic tomorrow. My other 80 has 230,000 miles.

What sort of maintenance has been done to it? How long have you owned it?? I'm interested...

I've seen one before..... he was up in Yosemite when I was there a few years ago. He had the truck (92) since new and drove it everywhere.

Not a 80 but a 75 series ute/pick up fzj75 with obviuosly the 1fz-fe for sale and test drove with a mate for him showing 640 xxx km it did have a miss at idle and a fair few oil leeks and diff wind but did drive still ... some how:p

BlackCrow

here is a picture and mileage of my 96 LC. My 97 lx-450 has just come home after 4 days of maintenace repack on the front, new frt pads, lubricated the knuckle, prop shaft, shaft bushing, and replaced the drive belts. She is running outstanding right now. I gotta take the 96 in for the same in about 5k miles. Dont mind spending for the repairs because it keeps them young and no car payment. Yahoooooooooo:
