i was wondering if some one can help me out with a problem i barely noticed with my brothers 92 cruiser. u see, his cruiser makes like this loud whining noise and the whine itself intensfies and gets louder when going faster, when I decelerate the whine gets quieter and quieter, dude to tell you the truth it sounds like my supercharged cobra, only without a supercharger. i noticed that it started to make this whine noise after i changed the power sterring belt, could I have put it on too tight? i don't know, clueless? any help.

Check the tension of the belt and come back if it does not go away and then give more details of vehicle. age, milage and specifics to allow the others the best chance of a diagnosis.

You said it happened when going FASTER.....what about in park/neutral at higher RPMs?

(Just trying to rule out non-engine components)

air conditioner compressor bearing? thats what is causing mine...

Do you have OEM belts or aftermarket belts? non-oem belts are often toothed/ribbed and the little notches make a turbine like sound when revving the engine. OEM belts don't (normally) do this.

there is indeed the common exhaust whine...
a great one too...

i have no clue but heres some cheese for your whine... :flipoff2:

I vote for a non-OEM belt.

You will not hear the exhaust whine/whistle unless you are accelerating.

Whine with non-OEM belt is specific to the 1fzfe.

Alternater or power steering pump. I will bet you my lockers on it.

Would be great to know what year and milage vechicle we are asking about. Some have guessed, but I really do not know what engine or other sh*t you may have lurking under the hood of that 80 you are driving. If you do have a power steering belt then you would have a 3fe which means you have a 91-92. But again I really can not answer you question until you give enough information, then guessing game can begin. later robbie

Ah Robbie, he stated 92 in his opening post. Just yank a belt at a time to see which accessory it is if indeed it is one.

Then again, maybe a static whine from the alternator through the stereo. Can you hear it from outside?

I thought it was about 2 different truck, his brothers and his. excuse the confusion on my end. later robbie
