I searched, what other wheels are compatible for the lc96-97 that do not require spacers, 17 or 18 inch?

cheers peter

Anything with the proper measurements..... :).

I live in a very heavy snow area, I currently run duratracs on my stock 16 wheels, I would like a narrower studded tire for winter driving and there are options but only in the 17 and 18 inch diameter, I’m hoping for a relatively good value wheel that does not need wheel spacers. At one time I had found a thread with the info I’m looking for but currently can not seem to find it

Method Race Wheels (be careful of the 7xx series wheels, they need the center bore to be machined a little tiny bit to fit), Icon Alloys, SCS, Tandem Auto, Summit Auto, all have 17" wheels that will fit the bill. Most of what you will find available on the aftermarket are going to be on the wider side. You should be looking for something with a negative offset if you want to avoid spacers (recommended to skip spacers for sure). Icons on one of our shop rigs are 17x8.5, 0 offset. Have installed plenty of Method 17x9, -12 offset wheels for folks with good results. Seems like those might be wide for your tire, do you know what size tire you're shooting for?

17" narrow, studded (or Nokians) should work very well in snow.

Maybe order a set of Wheels Vintiques steelies for winter.

A correct wheel for an 80 Series is a 16x8 with zero offset. This means that any alternate wheel you pick, regardless of diameter, can have no more than 4.5 inches of backspace. The vast majority of currently available wheels will have too much backspace or will be too narrow, or both.

That being said, this rule is ignored on a disturbingly regular basis.

I just ordered a set of KMC TREKs 17x9 w\12mm offset. Probably to wide for what your wanting, but as previously stated lots of options out there.

A correct 9 inch wheel would have a -25mm offset.

Specific size tires in question would be helpful.

Personally I run studded 315’s on my OEM wheels and 37’s on my 17x9, -12mm. I’m getting the impression your talking 33’s or smaller?

Would like to go 35, and as narrow as reasonable, Nokian has a couple studded winter tires in that size for either a 17 or 18 rim

SCS "Stealth Custom Series" 16' or 17" Fit fine on my LX450. I went with 16" as i wanted the keep the PO's previous tires, Wish i had went with 17" They fit pretty good and i have manual locking hubs.

Looking at Nokian’s site I only saw 315/70r17 and 275/70 r18 available in the Hakka LT3. Neither is a skinny 35. Let me know if I missed something.

Personally unless a true skinny 35 is available I’d just run a 315/75r16 that you can stud and fit your OEM wheels. I’ve owned a number of Nokian tires over the years and they generally perform very good. I do not care for the directional design as it limits rotation options.

I had good luck with my studded Duratracs over the years (10) with the exception of one flat. I’m picking up a new set of Cooper ST Maxx this weekend to replace them. I feel for my application the deeper and larger shoulder lugs on the AT style tire better suits my needs overall. (Often deep or slushy snow) Those Hakka’s will definitely do better on ice.

I wish someone would make a true snow tire in a 285/75r18 and I’d invest in another set of wheels. Just my $.02 after a couple decades of mountain living.

I will have another look but thought there was another option or two for the nokians, same boat here, I’ve been on duratracs in the 315 size and very happy with them, never had a problem in the snow. They are due to be replaced and I have been wanting to explore options. I’m in a very snowy part of the rocky mountains in Canada. I may just go another 4 on the duratracs

255/85 16? What is your price range?
