what's the biggest tire size that will fit in a 97 fzj80 w/ 16" wheels, no liftt kit?

Search is your freind. 285/75 or 33" without rubbing. 315/75 or 35" will work with some rubbing.

thanks, I will take your advice...

I have the 275 LTX's and they are a great highway tire in sun or rain. They are decent on dirt roads but once you start doing any offroading you will want something with more bite. Here in AZ where the terrain is mostly hard scrabble type rocks and stuff, I noticed some small 1/4 inch chunks have been ripped out here and there. But nothing serious. Offroad they are no good in the mud and you'll find your big cruiser sliding all over the place like it has a mind of its own. I never had the LTX's in snow.

Actually I'm on my way to put 33" tires on my 93. I'm considering some type of A/T.
That said, I've never had any problems with Michelin tires and I beleive they are top of the line stuff.

You couldn't pay me enough to put BFG A/T's on any truck. They don't balance, in the heat they almost melt away they wear so fast, in the cold the compound gets hard as steel, and the tight interlocking tread will load up with mud/snow and refuses to clear at anything under 75 MPH... you may as well be driving on slicks at that point.

I wouldn't have a second thought taking LTX's anyplace that you could get with BFG's **of comperable size** <-- caveat placed to keep flame-throwers at bay, and be a LOT more comfortable on the highway road trip getting there

Seems a no brainer to me for the LTX's if you are going to go (near)stock sizing.

If your worried about Traction in the Snow then LTX's won't do any better.

The A/T's do better in light snow than the M/T's do.

As for the rest of it.... well that's just a matter of opinion. I worked at Discount Tire, I've balanced at least 50 sets or so and they balance just as well as any other Tire. Don't forget a lot of problems with Blancing have less to do with the Tires and more do to with the Wheel.

As already noted many times, the LTX's are strictly an on road Tire. If you have no interest in going Off-Road at all, then the LTX's will be better. But if you want better all around Traction/Light Off-Road capability you can't beat the A/T's.

I'll admit I'm a BFG Fanboy, but I've put plenty of LTX's on rigs. The owners seemed happy with them.

It's really about what you want out of the Rig in the end.

If you are doing highway driving then AT tread 285's might actually get better MPG than the stock diameter.

I got the BFG 285 A/T KO's at Discount. I checked with my younger brother first who has had 6 sets of the BFG A/T's with no problems on his 4x4 vehicles (4runner, jeep), I don't know what size his tires are.
He seems to think they work well here in the AZ heat with a 30-40k tread life. I'll save my LTX's for another day since they have just 21k on them.
I'll report if I have any vibration issues.

when idling the rpm's go from 900 to 500 and starts shaking, the engine light is on, and it is supposed to be the oxigen sensor, any idea what it could be, a tune up was done 2 weeks ago (I still need to replace the sensor, it's kinda of expensive $150), it was fine but after driving it for about 550 miles, it started doing this, when driving (moving) it is fine, the problem is when I'm at the light waiting, probably after some 10 secs..injectors? sensor? any tips?
