I'm going through a rather fruitless search trying to figure out the specs of these Pro Comp series 97 wheels this beautiful FZJ80 is running. Pro Comp site is rather lame as they don't list offsets for all their wheels.

The reason why I love these so much is the amount of lip it features. The offset has to easily be in the double digits. I'm guessing they're 16x8s given the bulge on a 315/75 tire. Ideally, I'll shoe on a set of Pro Comp series 51s as I prefer the D windows rather than the circles on the 97s. But if only the 97s are available with this amount of lip, I'm sold.

Here are the series 51s:

Thanks!

Hey! I've been using the 51's for at least 3 tire changes now, I've had no issues with them at all.
People ask why I use steel wheels, there's a lot of opinions, steel vs. alloy. I have my own reasons.

One of the things people site is the ease of repair on the trail if they get damaged. That's true, but I hope I never have to break out the big hammer and do that.
The main reason for my choice of steel wheels is the resistance to damage. A couple years ago on the Kokopelli on a narrow portion, I got a little close to the inside and hit a rock - rock didn't move - truck lurched hard right (this is also why I drive with my thumbs OUTSIDE the steering wheel).
I stopped and did a quick inspection and this is all there was...

I think if I had the stock alloys and definitely if I had an aftermarket cast alloy, it would have blown the wheel apart.
As it was, I drove the rest of the way, had the wheel checked when I got on the road (Moab) and have been driving on it since.

I'm not in love with the look, but I do like the utility of this steel wheel - no complaints!

I did get these at 4Wheel Parts here in Compton (actually before they moved across the freeway so it must have been a long time ago!)

I liked them enough to put them on my trailer too.

Dan.

Thanks, Dan! Is there anything special you do to ensure that the lugs center the wheel correctly or do they just do what lug-centric wheels should do without fuss?

I personally think the D window 51s look better than any alloy wheel I've seen on the 80 series to date. And they happen to be super affordable. Win, win.

Interesting to see that the 51s have the same center pressed grooves as the 252s I picked up. The next challenge is sourcing 12mm x 1.5 with a longer thread as these McGard 64015s at 1.45" length aren't deep enough as there's much less center padding compared to OEM wheels. Gorilla also offers nothing as well.

you're good, just nip them all up tight and then torque them up going to each opposite nut working your way around.

Just to close the loop, based on my novice investigative work, the truck in my original post is running 16x10s with at least a -38 offset. I don't think Pro Comp sells them anymore. Only 16x8s with the O windows with a much shallower lip.

The 51s are available still in 16x10 -38 deep dish look, but at the time of this writing, they're backordered ~1-2 months from all major resellers as deep dish 10" wheels aren't popular. Saddies.

but first take them off and paint your hubs black.

I bought the rig in your first post last year. We haven’t measured but think they are 16x10.

Had actually been kicking around selling them with the BFG KO2s and going a different direction.

Here are the 51s in 16x8 wrapped in Kumhos.

Black Rock makes wheels that look like those in video, steel and alloy. Specs on site. ICON uses them.

What size tire are you looking at using?

I found 315/75 r16 worked better in an 8"rim than on 10"s.
On 8s, the bead stayed sealed better, and the tire seemed to bag out better when aired down.
When I had 10" rims, I often had problems with beads leaking.

I'm over the moon with my current setup. The 16x10s with the crazy dish sets it off like an Artic Truck wannabe. Even owners with big arse F250s on 13" wide 37s ask me if I'm running 325s.

I'll get that twin ARB air comp installed someday. Not a priority for my use case (Honesty: MALL CRAWLER).

Those in the video are pro comp xtreme Rock crawlers. I have them in the 17x9 flavor. I want to say that they're 3.5" backspace.

Did you have any fitment issues with these at all? I ordered the 17x9 but in 4.25 BS because I don't have flares.

Nope. They've been working just fine. I was running 1" wheel spacers also... unnecessary but I like a wider wheelbase on suvs.
