I am needing to cut my rear wheel wells and would like to use the wrangler flares I have seen here on other 40's. Problem is that I see flares for TY or YJ listed, but I can't tell the difference from the pics. A local 4x4 store has them for $50 to $80 for the rear set depending on TY or YJ. I'll go pick some up this weekend, but which ones...

Can someone tell me which would work better?

Thanks,

Steve

You want to bastardise your FJ with heep parts? Might as well make your own out of sheet metal ;)

yah, yah, yah... I know... I have already bastardized it. Steering column from a cherokee, front seats from a trooper, rear seat from a caravan.. etc...

I figure most of that stuff was made in Japan anyway

I am running the TJ ones as are most who run those flares. You can probably get a set cheap from a local owner who installed wider flares or removed theirs. Try your local 4x4 club board. They do an excellent job of keeping me from being pulled over for tread past wheel well opening.

x2 on getting them from someone that put wider ones on. I posted on craigslist and got them free:) Figured I could use that to justify the heep parts.
