How can I tell which carburetor I have on my 2F.Most carbs I have worked with in the past have a tag located under a screw,this one does not anymore.All I know is that it is a 2 BBL.,and it is on a 78 2F,but who knows if it is original to this engine.
Thanks

I just saw this somewhere a few weeks ago but don't recall where, maybe someone can post a link, but IIRC it goes like this:

A 3 digit # code on top/front of float bowl or the float bowl cover with a number, letter, number.

First number is day, letter is month, last is last digit of year, i.e.
5 D 2 = Fifth of April, 1972

A = Jan
B = Feb
C = Mar
etc

If that puts it close to the date stamping on the engine block you should have the original carb on it.

I think the first number is the year, the letter is the month and the second number is the day of the month.
Using your example, April 2, 1975

The code is stamped on the front of the carb, above the sight glass on later 2F carbs and on the top of the carb above the sight glass on F and early 2F carbs. Remember that is the date the carb was made, not necessarily for the year vehicle it was designed for.
