Which 100 to sell

I am a long-time member with a first-world problem. I plan to buy a sports car in the near future and have decided to fund a portion of this purchase by thinning the LC herd. I have five cruisers in my collection and have two 100's with very low original miles.

I enjoy them both and really have held off selling, but it just seems logical to eliminate one of them to fund this next toy. My dilemma is the choice of which to sell. I am not a "wheeler" in-fact they rarely see rain. I enjoy them on sunny days or weekend dinner dates.

The choice:
2005, 74,000 mile, one-owner I found in Arkansas which is bone stock and very, very nice in a rare color.
2002, 72,000 miles, with a few very slight mods and improvements as it was my first Land Cruiser purchase in 2017 with 62k miles and I really had fun taking a stock cruiser and making it my own.

They are both very nice. The 2002 is the most fun to drive with the cranked TBs, BFG's and aggressive muffler, but the 2005 is a museum item that I hate to let go.

The low miles and condition will really exclude many buyers as low mile 100's are becoming more and more collectible. They will both bring great money from serious buyers but I just can't decide on which one to sell. I have always received great feedback on MUD and welcome your input. What are the thoughts of the group? Which one to sell??????

I have two 80's (a 40th and a 1991) which are both really nice and a ultra low mile LX570 which is rapidly increasing in value due to Toyota's detrimental experiment with V6 Turbos:). so I think one of the 100's must go to fund an LC500 coupe.

No-brainer…
Keep the red one.
Or sell it to me 💪

Bye Bye, 2002.

It takes nearly nothing to make the '05 as fun as the '02 currently is.
Sell the '91 FJ80 as well and keep the 40th (Is it Sage or Emerald?)

My 2 cents.

SAGE!!!!!!!!! Yes, Good points. I have thought the same, but I really like the 02 with the old trans and feel. It just drives so solid.

A '99 with 7100 miles on Cars & Bids just recently didn't meet reserve at $78K
Yes, that made me very happy! Mine are not quite that level but better than anything else in the market. The 100's are really the perfect size and power level for me. The 300 is too big in my opinion and the 80 is lacking in size and power.

I don't think there is a correct decision here. Just commit to one and don't look back.

Goodness...please keep the red one. Or let me know when it goes up for auction. I'd love to have that one.

I fancy the 98-02 over the later model 100s, I’m with you, they feel more solid for some reason. To me 02 is the last year of the old dash, 4 spd auto and just feels more nostalgic and has glass headlamps! Think the 05 is plastic. To me the 03-up seemed to try too hard with the dash update while leaving the rest of the SUV esthetically the same for the most part. I’ve always been fond of the 98-02! Plus, likely the 05 brings more money due to rare color, low miles and extra gear. Also, if you ever do decide to take one off the beaten path the color on the 02 will be more forgiving to scratches and it’s ready to go!

LC500 will be fun! Very underrated car…

BTW! The 02 looks way better. Removing the running boards and adding the front mud flaps is everything! I did the same. Did the whole slider thing and took off the mud flaps but I always land back here.

SCS wheels, slee slider and no mud flaps.

Back to stock wheels w/ mud flaps, I like it so much more!

Sweet Fleet! I would keep the 02. I'm not a fan of the black garnet pearl; the other was your first. You can't put a price on sentimental value....right? Riiiiight???

@RKTINC No opinion here just wanted to say I appreciate your post and commentary on the auto auction sites. You know your stuff and in true land cruiser fashion - you always keep your comments and rigs classy

Best of luck

Thank you, I try to contribute in a meaningful way and represent the hobby honestly. Only time I get a little harsh is when I see a seller trying to slip one past BAT buyers. I have attached a few over the years as well:)

What is the fun in keeping a "museum quality piece" that you don't love driving? It seems to me that the 2005 should go.

Is you decide to sell the BGP 05LC, hit me with price in a PM. After having 3 BGP, I fell in love with color.

I'd be VERY interested in the 05. Beauty
