Where were factory hand throttles attached?

I recently purchased an original hand throttle (pull knob and cable) for my 70 FJ40, and now I'm wondering how to install it. To be a little more precise, what does it attach to- the carb or the gas pedal? I assume there is supposed to be some sort of anchoring point for the end of the cable housing, but it's either hidden or long gone.

I would appreciate guidance, because for the life of me I can't figure out where this is supposed to go!

my RHD 83 BJ42 from OZ came with one but I do not have pics of it attached because it is being restored right now. I can tell you that mine attaches to the gas pedal with a bracket assembly?

Gas pedal - at least on a diesel.

Do you have any pics of the attachment at the carb?

I've got a 66 and my hand throttle isn't attached to anything but runs through the firewall and is just hanging out in my engine compartment....

The single barrel carbs had hand throttle attachments, the double barrel carbs did not, and required the accelerator pedal setups for a hand throttle.

Dave does this hold true for the early two barrel carbs? I have a 69 carb that I have buried somewhere I'll have to check it if I can find it.:hhmm:

Ok, that makes sense.

I failed to mention I've got a 72 engine and carb in my 66 chassis. So that explains why the cable runs through the firewall and is not hooked up, because there is no hand throttle hook up on a 72 carb. So I would need to route the hand throttle to the accelerator pedal then... but my accelerator pedal may not have the attachment because its a 66. I'll check it out.

Sorry, Belaw, I didn't mean to hijack your thread...
