Corse #5 of 6 at Emeril’s Coastal Italian. Mr BAM himself was in the kitchen tonight.

I don't know if this should be in the "Where to Eat" thread or the "What I Ate" thread because, when I was eating it, it seemed pretty tasty. Now, when I look back at it, it seems like more of a novelty that should be interesting, but not tried.

Anyway, this is a "real" Fool's Gold sandwich from Nick's. According to Best Sandwich in Every U.S. State, "Legend has it that one night, Elvis Presley took a private jet from Graceland to Denver just to purchase 28 Fool's Gold sandwiches from the Colorado Mine Company restaurant. Each sandwich was made from a hollowed-out loaf of French bread slathered with margarine, baked, then filled with a pound of bacon, peanut butter and jelly.

Today at Nick's Café in the town of Golden, former Colorado Mine Company employee Nick Andurlakis (who claims to have delivered Presley's sandwiches to the airport that fateful night) still serves these behemoth sandwiches to anyone who dares to dig into The King's favorite late night snack.

I’m in for one of those. The lettuce and tomato are a little out of place though!

@dnp I don't know about those best sammich people. They think Big Apple Inn is the only place in the state to get a Pig Ear sandwich...

Yeah, I saw that too. Makes me question them as well, because although "interesting," if they think the Fool's Gold sandwich is the best Colorado has to offer, I'm wondering if they were eating with someone else's taste buds........

They also sampled the local greenery so mixing food that doesn’t usually work together tasted awesome to them when they had the munchies.

 I wondered how long that would last
