I threw this idea out there and got nothing but crickets...

Of course I still think its a good idea anyway.

Post up your favorite places to eat or drink and think outside of the box as not all of us exist on burgers and BBQ alone. Also, post up any places that are new or newly discovered.

Also, post a link (if there is one) rather than just the name of the joint.

I had posted this on Sully's thread, but I can't say enough about this place if you want to eat fairly healthy. I suggest going there for lunch. The place is small and parking is very limited though.

Welcome to Koriente

My favorite dish is the Japchei with rare tuna and avocado.

For those in NW Austin:

The Torchy's Tacos on 620 is pretty good. Their fajita tacos are killer.

In The Buns on Lake Creek/183 has some really good burgers (Fajita, beef, chicken, mushroom). Good buns, different types of fries, and non-HFCS sodas.

For a good bowl of Vietnamese Bun, you can't beat Kim Phung on Lakeline Blvd.

Try the Mr. Pink taco as Torchy's if you have not tried it before.
Their fried avocado taco is killer too.
I prefer their tacos over Taco Deli.

That taco sounds really good.

Guahillo seared ahi tuna, cabbage fresca, cilantro, queso fresco with a wedge of lime. Served with chipotle sauce on a corn tortilla

Sweet...I am always up for a new pho place and I have never been to Kim Phung will have to give it a try.

Mothers cafe on duval and casa de luz downtown.

In the hood or out? I'll start with in ...

Foreign & Domestic : http://fndaustin.com/

Farm to table and they aren't afraid to use the whole animal, great head cheese and beef belly ;)

House Pizza : http://www.housepizzeria.com

Potato and goat cheese pizza, enough said ...

Man Bites Dog : http://manbitesdogaustin.com/menu

Serious hot dogs, the Hair of the Dog is bacon wrapped and deep fried for that crisp goodness.

Food Heads (ok - on the border) : http://www.foodheads.com/

Grilled squash and fresh mozzarella makes you want to be a vegetarian.

Most of the ones you guys prolly haven't tried anyway ;)

Cool..there are about 6 places I now need to try!

I had wondered about House Pizza. I probably drive by there every other week.

Ill start with some man food...

Southern comfort just eastbound on the access road of 183 past Lamar.

They do all you can eat buffets of souls food. Make sure you go on the day they are serving what you want.

We went on chicken fried steak day, their catfish is supposed to be the bomb.

Bacon is a new place on 12th street by Lamar. There will be a neon sign of a pig.
If you get the chicken and waffles, there is bacon baked in.

Phill's ice house.
Damn good lunch burger. There are a few in town. All the guys I work with do the 78704 sometimes with chicken. I do the bacon cheeseburger with a 1/2 pound patty.

Checked out Easy Tiger tonight.
Great beer selection. Music sucked and crowd was ok.
I'd go back for the beer selection and beer garden.

Ten Oak Brunch?

Anyone tried the brunch at Ten Oak? My bride wants to try it. Menu seems OK, but it looks more like a high end bar than a restaurant. Some friend recommended it to her.
