Anyone know where to purchase a 6 inch Ironman lift kit? I am looking for the lowest priced kit. I know a lift is a serious $$$ purchase, I just am not rich by any means and am just trying to save a few $. I searched and did not find the info I needed. The Ironman 4x4 site lists a kit for the 80 for $1028. Does this price seem right? All the kits I have seen elsewhere (IPOR, MetalTech, etc) are around $2000-2500. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You'll need a lot more than just shocks and springs for 6 inch lift, that's why slee kits are 3k because it has everything you need. if you buy lesser kits then you'll spend a lot more time and money trying to get it right. 4-6 inch lift are for people with money and mechanical skills.

If you want to save money then stick with 2 inch lift and that's good enough for 35s.

i am sure the 6 inch kit for 1K is just springs and shocks. you will need longer brake lines, caster plates or even longer radius arms, a Dc front drive shaft... the list goes on and on. if you really want that much lift then buy the whole kit and be done with it.

First off, I do have mechanical skills, was an RVIA Certified RV Technician for 5 years before becoming a chef. Secondly, I didn't plan to spend $1000 on a lift. In fact I plan to spend around $2200-2500. I asked where to buy because I would rather spend $1800-2000 on a COMPLETE kit rather than $2500-3000 and use the savings for other mods.

there is no COMPLETE 6 inch kit in the sub 2K range. you can do 3~4 in that range but not 6.

Metaltech has them for 2200, they are the only ironman reseller here in the US i know of.

BUT compare that kit to SLEE's kit and you'll see what you are missing and there are quite a few things missing. LANDTANK will have a lot of the parts you'll see individually for sale, by the time you piece the rest of it together you will probably spend more than buying the 3500 kit. DC drive shaft alone would be close to 1000 and you will need that for 6 inch lift. These are the reasons I stuck with my little 2 inch lift.

Metaltech is the place for me. I just talked to Mark there a little while ago and he spent the time with a newbie like me explaining all about the lift kits, different manufacturers, advantages of each, etc. I bought a 2in Ironman from him with all the trimmings. Would highly recommend.

So taking out the caster correction plates that came with the 6" kit reduced a lot of vibration on the standard driveshaft, but I ended up putting a DC shaft in the front. I have yet to reinstall the caster plates in fear that the vibration will return but was wondering if I should be afraid? Anyone running a DC up front with caster correction? This would make the pinion angle pretty high, which goes agains proper DC shaft geometry.

Your DC shaft runs ok but your castor angle is way negative. Those, including myself, with taller lifts of greater than 4” find that converting to part time is the best way to avoid dealing with front driveline vibes while being able to also enjoy plenty of positive castor angle for much improved handing characteristics.

To answer your question: If you put the castor plates back in, your DC shaft will vibrate and possibly worse than the stock shaft.

  • Brake lines (this includes bleeding)
  • driveshafts
  • the sway bars
  • emergency brake cable
  • castor correction
  • pan hard rods front and rear.
that’s all from memory after 4 inch lift
