I noticed last night that the floor at the drivers seat is wet from rain. I'm going to go out there and investigate this morning. Seems like door and window were shut tight. Is there a known problem here? Any suggestions where the water could be coming from? First time this has happened in over 10 years of owning the vehicle.

Has the windshield been replaced recently? I have seen them leak if it is not installed properly. The carpet should be wet up high if it is.

Ours leaks on my left foot at the automatic car wash. Also leaks up high on the drivers A pillar. Im guessing its the seal on my windshield as it's 16 yrs old and the glass moves side to side on moderately bumpy dirt roads (i.e. washboards).

windshield leaks or sunroof drains

Typical A-pillar leak solution (your mileage may vary):

Of course, make sure your sunroof drains are nice and clean first. Snake some semi-rigid wire down them, etc.

I just installed a new $8.00 sunroof cable cover and no more water standing in my passenger side floorboard. It's amazing how much water was coming in just because the old cover was warped.

Check the bottom of the door drains also, could be full of mud/bugs/leaves,etc.

RICH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice to see you posting again vis-a-vis Holly.

80's section misses you man.

I had a similar problem due to leaking windshield seals. I ignored it for a year until it shorted out the a/c amplifier (controller) under the dash. That cost about $400 to replace. The windshield sealer cost under $10 when I finally fixed it.

i had this problem and it came from a crack in the body of the car ... it was comming just up the clutch pedel on the left from where the elctric wires are comming ... and i weld it hope you will find it

My rig gets wet on both the passenger side and drivers side and the reason for that is the AC vent! I though it was the windshield but got everything done properly changing everything and tested it for leaks. I do not have a sunroof so it can't be from that. Therefore, I spilled water down the AC vents on the front of the rig close to the bottom of the windshield and there was water inside. Tok it to the garage and they told me that the AC vent was stuck in the "open" position, which meant that even when I put the AC's setting or recirculated air the outdoor air vent is still "open".

+1 windscreen seal

I coudn't figure out where the water was coming in either last year. Both floormats were getting soaked. Finally drove around in some rain and noticed leaks from both lower corners on the windscreen seal.
Since the windscreen had some chips and had a new gasket and glass installed for about $200. Now the truck is nice and dry.

Thanks, all, for your great input. Rich and I spent some time troubleshooting and suspected it was the sunroof drain, but unfortunatley couldn't find them on our own, so with the help of our local Toyota dealer, they cleared the drains and water-tested for several hours and hopefully that will be the end of that. Now I know where the front drains are - but they were a little evasive about where the rear ones are, so that means to me they might not even know where they are but were satisfied enough just to see water flowing out the bottom of the drains.

I have this problem too! I'm not sure if the windshield has been replaced because I've only had it for a few months. How would i be able to tell?

Does it say "Toyota" in the bottom driver's side corner of the windshield? Most people don't go through the expense of getting a new Toyota windshield, if/when they replace their existing ones. That's usually a pretty good sign as to whether or not you have had a windshield replaced.

I am really surprized anyone has their original windshield. My rig is a 95. I have had it since 97 and I have replaced the windshield twice and need to do it again already. These windshields are not very slanted so anything heavy that hits them breaks the windshield. I replaced the last one because a semi threw up a large piece of 2 x 4 which hit my windshield end-first. It immediately spider-webbed the entire windshield.

Windscreen leak

It took me a while to pin-point. Guess I didn't know where to look. One day I just sat in the truck durihg a heavy downpour of rain and watched the water pool at the lower corners of the seal. I would imagine you could have someone use a water hose while you watch and get the same results.
