So I just got my first cruiser, and i changed the plugs, air and fuel filters, pcv--
(yes the grommet is really there for anyone searching for that keyword-- i didnt see it until the sunlight hit it just right-- its resting on top the pipe hole, a circular cover with a hole--not inside the pipe, its already on the pipe when you remove the pcv)

and sometimes i climb in and am sitting on the passenger rail above the wheel, (for my stuck pcv)

or for the air filter i am standing on my front bumper

i only leaned over for the plugs, and havent done the oil yet (it was just done the day before i bought)

its just so strange, i never had a car with a hood so dam big, i am curious how all of you sit/stand when working under the hood (i havent had to do any work on the driver side yet)

thanks y'all

I have to stand on the ARB or sit in the engine bay, since the hood comes all the way up to my shoulders.

I keep 5 gallon buckets around and use them upsidedown as foot stools. It's a little tricky because if you lean and reach way over, the bucket has a tendency to slip out from under your feet.

Cinder blocks are my thing, same problem. I am 6ft and my rig is on 33s but very very mildy lifted. So most things I can reach. Or I go from the bottom.

Amen to 5 gal buckets suddenly sliding out from under you. Gumby turned me on to this at his shop probably the best $20 I've spent in a long time.

I'm 6'6" so I stand on the ground.

This will be changing once the lift and tires are done.

5 gal bucket or my :princess: stepstool seem to work pretty good.

I use a short three step ladder or a big metal milk crate. The crate is handy for keeping loose items secured in the cargo area, and the small ladder helps fetch items from the roof rack.

Cheers,

I stole the Jane Fonda stair steper from my wife and it works great. Rubber on the bottom so I don't have to balance on my belly when the stool slips out from under my feet and it is almost three feet long!!
Would Jane consider this exercise??

Driving Daisy...I think that definately qualifies as exercise and further, I think Jane Fonda would be proud!:D

I 2nd, 3rd, what ever the 3 ft step stool...If I get over anxious, I stand on the front bumper or the tire. Ill also try to discover better angles from either the fender well, or under the rig.

I either stand on the bumper or i stand on the inside of my wheel, with 15X10's there is a nice little step. That step that attaches to the wheel sounds like an even better idea. I had to crawl up into the engine bay to replace my valve cover gasket, thats was a bitch.

I'm 6'5", so even with the lift most everything is easily reached....:flipoff2:

but then there is the drawback of the big meat hook hands that don't easily fit where other hands do.

Since I'm so short (5' 6"), I pretty much have to stand on the truck itself. I often stand on the front hub, or on the tire or on the bullbar, which is a good seat, also.

the great thing about having the bucket or stool slip away while beached halfway in the bay is that anything un-descended won't be for long.

So how many of you guys have the "elbow dents" along the top of the fender?
