Where can I find a "Hanna" bumper?

Yes the mud flaps can be used with the Hanna bumper.

The latest design ends right at the back side to the mudflap and the bumper is as wide as the outer must part of the mudflap.

I think what Brent meant was... that it didn't have a hitch receiver. As in, it can't pull a trailer. That's what's been holding me back from the Hanna as well.

Brian - long running joke on the board. Both Christo and Ken make a VERY stout bumper, great for offroad and rocks. Doug is teasing and as Eric points out, neither Ken or Christo wanted the legal hassles of getting their bumpers rated for towing. As Biff points out, I do tow alot and the only expedition/offroad bumper I could use was Kaymar's. It's a very good bumper as well, but the steel used isn't quite as thick as Ken's or Christo's.

Now all that said, Cdan did, with his mighty welding skills fab a tow hitch to Christo's bumper if you are so inclined.

If you have to tow and it's something more than a pintle hitch can handle, Kaymar is a great choice. I've been very happy with it....then again, I don't do driving where I'll likely hang the truck by the rear bumper.

Brent: I don't think you have to worry about pintle hooks. These are *way* stronger than your typical hitch receiver. I think the smallest pintles I've seen can handle 5 tons tow and a couple thous lbs vertical and the sky is the upper limit. You routinely see them for 30 and more tons. What you attach the pintle to can be an issue of course.

Isn't the limit on a pintle 1500 lbs on the stock bumper?

well there is all this back and forth about what this attachment point can handle, with mentions of it being rated at 7000lbs or so in other countries. don't know about 1500 lbs.
But anyway, this is the mount, not the pintle that's the issue.

I wasn't sure about Hanna's bumper, but Victor answered that.

The Kaymar has an integrated receiver, so you can tow with that one.

The slee rear bumper has holes so you can attach a non-rated receiver to it or use a pintle.
The factory tow hitch will fit under the slee rear bumper...at least that's the case with my Slee bumper -- you might want to confirm with them.

The 4x4labs rear bumper has an integrated receiver, IIRC.

A reciever hitch can be used under the Hanna bumper and can easily be installed and removed without having to supporting the bumper. I recomend towing with the reciever hitch, it is the safest way to tow a trailer behind the 80.

For me the main issue using the Pintle hitch is that it places the trailer ball to high for most trailers, street trailers.

The hitch that has the 2 inch reciever passing through the main structure and not under the main structure of the hitch has the same clearance and the Kaymar, while having the option to remove the reciever hitch if need be for clearance.

Man....I just got my Slee this week and the main reason I went with it was for the higher sides...hmmm

I really like the new design, what are you looking time wise for the first of the new bumpers to be ready to ship?

good to know that you can still put a hitch receiver under yours.

you know this already, Ken, but for the rest of us, one can always put a receiver on the pintle hook mount and then go up or down with a ball mount. So you could have a ball mount at whatever height and more clearance under too.

I have the Hanna bumper. It has the tire carrier and the NATO can holder. I don't do much rock crawling, more expidition stuff. I did a quick run two weeks ago here in AZ that included approx. 50 miles of washboard and imbedded rock. The carriers held up again without a problem. Not only that but the NATO carrier has taken a direct hit from a tree and came out with barely a scratch. I have installed a pintle to tow a military trailer and have the factory receiver on the side of the house if needed.

Is that the new bumper on the website? It looks kind of bulky/ungainly.
