Where are you storing jumper cables?

Did a search but nothing came up. Just got my ‘19 LX and was hoping to throw my jumper cables in there like I’m used to having. Where are you storing your, if you are?

i have a big rectangular open top box with cloth handles, and it has necessities. jumper cables, flashlight, tools, dog water bowl, etc.
So you just throw that in the back? I was hoping to preserve trunk space. I have the cargo net, but I don’t know that it’s an appropriate place for cables.

on the passenger side in the back, there are two doors in the wall. the doors are small, but the space extends forward another foot. IF you had jumper cables with small alligator clip handles (as opposed to the normal giant ones) a cable would fit in there.

Forget cables. Do this:

Amazon product ASIN B016UG6PWE
They go on sale for $150 every once and awhile. The GB 50 will jump a v8 too I have both. One in the Taco and one in the cruiser.

Can confirm, these work great. I use my GB70 in my 01 LX470. I got it on sale for $120.

I've used something similar for years and it's worked great. In addition, the one I have can charge mobile devices and even my laptop. Just be sure to re-charge it once in a while. I re-charge mine maybe three or four times a year and it's never been less than 75% even after sitting for several months.

There’s a section under the hood near the passenger side portion under the plastic engine covers that a set of jumpers fits.

I also put the center piece of a jack stand in the middle of the coiled jumper cables…and then bungie the remaining “stand” portion of a jack stand on the passenger side of the engine bay near the headlight.

If you’re looking to save space inside the cab, you might consider this.

There’s also a space on the drivers side of the engine bay that you can wedge a 12v compressor…though I wouldnt put the hose for the compressor under the hood.

I’m going to choose to read your question a different way. “ Why doesn’t a gigantic SUV like the land cruiser or LX have more internal storage space?”

I really thought it would have more compartments. I have my compressor in a bag in the back. Been meaning to get a bin for my jumper cables and some tools, volt meter, all that stuff. I have so much stuff behind and under the rear seat of my Tacoma. Zero storage in my LC but I’m sure that has been beaten to death.

I've got a tire compressor, a hand vac, and jumper cables in a $5--'lobby special--Harbor Freight zip-up tool bag. Easily fits behind seat. Works for me.

This. You can use a GB150 or GB70 with a fitted case for storage and be set for anything. Far more versatile than jumper cables. One important thing often missing with jumper cables is another vehicle!

Edit: I see I didn't answer the question, even for the NOCO. I have a Husky tool bag from the Home Depot strapped to a cargo D-ring. Everything I carry is in either that for my long shovel/axe/saw/jack pad bag on the other side of the cargo area.

Not to dive too far into the weeds, but is that large of a NOCO needed? I picked up the GB40 for my 4.5L in the 80, but they say it’s good for up to a 6.0 gas.

To stay on topic…

Curious for those with the battery jumper, how old is the unit? Li Ion batteries have a life span of ~3 years. Though many last much longer. I have tried to reduce the number of battery devices I own and rely on.

As for storing jumper cables. Mine are about to go into a drawer system. But in the past I have used a milk crate to keep such things stored.

I bought mine (Rockford Pocket Power) in 2015. Just checked it and it is still fully charged. I probably last charged it in June. I always carry it, but it's only been used maybe 5-6 times since I got it.

You can fit jumpers into one of the tailgate cubbies, or into the cubby that holds the jack. Mine are in a bag, which is in a set of drawers in the rear.

I was thinking of putting them in the cubby that holds the jack but I was worried they would rattle against the body. Anyone have insight?

Unknowingly I kilt the batteries in our '96 Cummins/Dodge. 45 mins at high idle from the 4rnnr jumpered to it did not bring the batteries up enough to get the diesel to start on a warm day while still connected to the 4rnnr running at high idle. Didn't even turn over. Disconnected the 4rnnr and considered my options.

Remembered that I had an Anti-Gravity XP-10 jumper starter. Pulled it out and checked the charge on it, ~3/4 charged. WTH, worth a try. Engine spun over and started. It was over a year old, and had only been charged the first time, when I used it.
I carry some puny jumper cables and one of these jump-starters now. The cables are puny enough to fit in one of my tool bags.

I’ve had good luck with the oz charge super cap. Started the lx and also a couple smaller engined good samaratin type jumps. All by charging from the ‘dead’ battery.
No batteries, so I never have to charge it or worry about if it is out of charge. It can pull enough energy for a jump down to 6 volts or so on the main.
They also were good to work with on a warranty claim.
