So I finally decided to check out my suspected loose bearings last night and dove into my hubs. And had a problem.

While removing the cone washers, I effed up and accidentally took one of the studs out with the 1/2 inch impact wrench. Insert many expletives here. Lesson learned. Never even got the flange off.

I stopped the process here and reassembled. The stud had threads on both ends, so I put back in and tightened. I don't suspect this is legit and assume I may need to get a new part. Can any of you experts help a newbie out? Can I drive like this until I get it fixed?

Thanks in advance.

Treat it with penetrating lubricant and when you are ready, if it comes back out again just use two of the other nuts on the hub side to get the nut off of the flange side.. of that makes since. Then reinstall the stud into the hub.

*if that makes since

Stud coming out is no big deal, reinstall and you'll be fine.

Makes total sense. Thanks. I thought I had sheared it off! Had no problem getting nut off of stud once out.
I did hit flange with PB blaster before reassembly so hopefully it will go better next time I'm in.

Another question: any tricks to getting the snap ring off without the specialized pliers?

A needle nose could work if you made it to work.

A snap ring pliers at my Ace Hardware put me back a whole $15...

Easy-to-remove flange studs make for easy-to-replace flange studs when you actually do screw them up. "I know a guy" who over-torqued every flange nut on his 80-series and broke almost every stud in the process...

No offense intended toward your purchase choice, but these pin type pliers are not very effective for removing the specific retaining circlip at the cv axle flange. You'll need the type that I posted a link to earlier has a flat knurled surface that the sharp open end of the circlip rests on.
Not at all. I appreciate the tip. Just ordered the craftsman per your advice. Will throw the others in the box. Thanks for letting me know and saving me more frustration.
