What's too many miles when looking at used 200? (1 Viewer)

Hello all. So, I have been eyeballing some 200 cruisers and found an '08 with 137k miles, and in phenomenal shape. It spent it's first 6 years in Ohio, but then lived in Florida until now. The undercarriage looks good with some minor surface rust but very minor. Good maintenance history, and great condition. I have worked the dealer down to $26k but may do better. Good deal or stay away with the mileage? Forgive me as I have owned 100 series cruisers and am uneducated as to the 200 series 5.7 and reliability compared to the 100. Thanks for any help.

On the 200s, mileage isn't as important as what maintenance has been done.
check for water pump, radiator, starter, any coolant leaks and rust on the KDSS valves.
these things are just about bullet proof once you fix the aforementioned items.
There are two 200s in Arizona with zero rust, a little higher mileage, but in great condition for less money.

Even on a well cared for 200, I'd take a more careful look and do a long test drive if the miles were over 1M. Probably about the same as a 100.

Ok, thanks for the heads up. I think I am going to pass on this '08 and continue looking. I really like the look of a 200 with an Icon lift and tastefully modded out. Never having owned a 200, I am sure it is more refined than my 100. But, I just don't have the experience with the 200.

I have limited 100 experience but the 200 is a great do-it-all rig. The general consensus on here from people who moved from the 100 to the 200 is; the 200 does everything the 100 does, just a whole lot better.

To me the biggest issue is RUST, even more than maintenance. Some of the 2008-2010 LC/LX's I have been seeing have had considerable rust underneath the chassis.

Model Year Differences, LC200 + LX570

Depends on what's important to you. I wanted the headlights, cameras, bluetooth and cooled seats, so I went with a '13

I found an '11 with only 29k miles and an '09 with 73k miles. The difference is $6k between the two. Is the '11 worth $6k more for 2 years newer ad 44k less miles? Ironically, the '11 is white and the '09 is black. I prefer the black, but the '11 is hard to ignore for $43,000? I have never owned a white vehicle, so........

$43k for a 200LC with only 29k miles seems like a good deal. Do both have maintenance records? I am always a bit leery regarding low mile vehicles, as I wonder if they've been wrecked, or had a ton of short trips. If it has all the maintenance and is clean, I'd jump on it. I'd also take it to a mechanic and body shop to look over before buying. Worth the $100-$200 for additional piece of mind.

So, other than oil changes, the '11 doesn't really have any other maintenance records to note other than the radio being replace at 16k miles, and tires rotated. It was in a minor rear accident which was probably in a parking lot. And, the front fender has been painted/blended but nothing on the carfax about this. Could have just been a minor incident as well. The '09 with 73k miles has a fairly extensive service history including water pump replaced during the 60k service on 3/4/15. No accidents and front/rear brake pads replace 9/2/16, and regular oil changes. Both are 1 owners. I prefer the black color of the '09, but I could live with white on the '11. I just can't put my head around if it's worth the extra $6k? Although, I would have to fly and drive the black one back whereas the white is only a 3 hour drive away. So, it's probably closer to a $5k difference. Ugh, help!!!!!!

Sounds like the white one has been through a lot, and is probably the reason it has been for sale for over 90 days. Seems like it might not be the great deal it seems to be, who knows...

FWIW, I bought one with 73k miles with no hesitation b/c it has all the maintenance records, including diff fluid, brakes, water pump, etc. It was well taken care of. Sounds like the black one fits that mold a bit better. Buying a used car is always a gamble. Make sure you take the time to have whatever you buy inspected by an indy mechanic. Good luck!

The whole thing with paying more for less miles is totally personal. Since there are no major differences between the 2 you're looking at other than bluetooth, I'd just get whichever one you're more comfortable with. If one was a 13+, I'd definitely suggest going for it.

I wish 13+ was in my price point. I was not aware the '09 didn't have bluetooth. Heck, my '07 LX 470 has bluetooth.

08-09 have bluetooth for making phone calls only. Bluetooth for audio streaming started with the 2010 models.

Wow, they do have a bad rating and you're right, it's very ironic that a LC with those low miles has been sitting there for 90 days. That just doesn't happen with a LC. Trust me, I know because as I call around to inquire, most are already sold or spoken for. These things sell like hot cakes, but then again, so does the 100 series...ask me how I know lol

I bought my car with 125k miles, it has 146k now. No problems other than regular maintenance items (brakes, oil changes). My 146k miles feels like a car with 30k miles when asked by my friends. I do think I got lucky and accidentally found a really clean LC for $30k.

The 5.7 is a beast and I am confident is just as reliable as the 4.7. I really like the black '09 with 73k miles as its a one owner, serviced regularly with water pump and brakes recently done. Its very clean. I feel that $38,000 is reasonable and may try and talk them down to $37500. It is a little over priced but the Lexus dealer knows what they have and as with most clean low mileage Cruisers, get bombarded with calls and inquiries which makes them inflate the price and not negotiate. I guess we have to pay to play lol. Can I do better than $37500 on an '09 with 73k, 1 owner?

I just paid 37,500 for an 11 one owner with 76k miles and all records a few weeks ago. Drove 4 hours to pick it up. I purchased from a private party. You could probably do better if you are patient, but 37.5 is not bad. If you'd consider an LX570, you can find decent deals too...
