What's this bolt for???

Hi All,

This is really not important, but I have searched and searched and can't find anything that answers this question - each end of my rear bumper has a bolt through it (see circle in the picture below), with a large square nut behind the bumper.

I've seen this same 'phenomena' on other FJ40 rear bumpers, so it must have had a specific purpose - can anyone explain that this was/is for?

I think it is for the guard that go around the rear lights, best guess anyway. I'll see if I can get a picture of mine.
